A worker build that redlined road when the AI city was still the only he got. It got build to get the corn online. Okay, getting the corn online is good, but there are limits (Same game where barb uprising destroyed all but that AI civ on the continent. Not funny).

Thats great.

Now that (in BtS) forts act as cities, would it have worked to build a fort next to the corn, and build a road from the corn to the fort?
Just curious about that particular game mechanism.

Thats very handy to know, I was afraid that in that situation I would have had to build the fort on the corn and lost out on a lot of food. On another related question, after you've discovered flight, are all of your forts joined to your trade netword (as if it was a city with an airport)?
And I think I know the answer to this but can you airlift units into friendly forts?

You might have guessed it, I rarely use forts or get as far as flight.

r_rolo1-- Yeah. ;). Out of curiosity, was your start truly isolated, or did you exterminate your neighbors? In my case, I did the latter, so I'm guessing the flag for the event is set once you meet a foreign civ, and it doesn't check whether or not you have any remaining neighbors. In-universe, I guess I can rationalize it and say that they're trading the currencies that were used by the now-deceased civs. Let's ignore the fact that neither of them were around long enough to develop currency...

Started isolated.... it is one of the Lonely heart Club games in the Strategy and tips forum ( you start isolated ... win it ;) )... kind of hard to get skills when trading foreign currencies when you don't know anyone else

But you still are missing out on food. Only a farm gives you a :food: bonus on the tile.

No you farm the corn/wheat whatever, then build a road on it, then road the tile east and built a fort east (or whatever), giving you both the food and the health benefit.
