Anyone have any especially funny tactics that aren't necessarily good but are entertaining nonetheless?

One strategy I enjoy is to as Rome, get open borders with neighbors and then build roads in their territory to cause them to lose GPT.

Be England, and spam the living daylights out of longbowmen and ships of the line. Then upgrade them :3 any flaws? This is both useful AND fun!(in the evil dictator kind of way)

That's just hilarious, well thought and well said  but make sure to select "require complete kills" right?

Surprisingly, it will not end your game if you don't select complete kills. I have no idea why.
One option that I would recommend though is OCC that way you will never have any cities in true CiV barbarian fashion.

Play as England. Reload until you get an isolated start. Build stuff and research as normal but focus on getting SoTL asap along with the great light house. Dont get to big, 2 coastal cities should be enough. Then build an armada of privateers and SoTL and declare war on every one, spy on them, plunder their trade routes and well, basically play as a pirate. I had a lot of fun playing as England that way. Did not aim to win, just for the sake of plunder and sinking/stealing ships.

Play as Aztecs or Incans. Found Christianity. Invade the hell out of Spain.

Awesome, I'll try it in my next game. That might even be fun with Ottomans after you rename them Barbary Pirates.

PLay as aztecs, turn barbs off, and win cultural victory without getting any culture buffs and not winning a domination victory.

Yeah, the ottomans would be good at this. You could launch raids with Janissaries and Sipahi while you're at it.

Hmm, off of the top of my head:

Virtually any civ: Get XCOM squads. Hide XCOM squads from your enemies. When they declare war or when you decide you don't like them, skyranger 10-20 XCOM squads into enemy territory and smash some things. Also replace mechanized infantry and tanks with your XCOM squads.

So... play end game normally.

Play as Spain on terra. Beeline astronomy.

One funny tactic that I have to admit I've never actually tried yet is selecting "Future Tech" from the start of the game. No tech tree choices!

They probably only check # of cities when a city (or settler, possibly) is conquered. They never thought anyone would be crazy enough to delete it :goodjob:

I guess this should be played on a low difficulty?

If you conquer (or raze in "OCC") every capital, I wonder what happens? Probably just continues on? After all, no one has ownership of your own capital.

This is pretty fun:
Play on Terra play as Polynesia. Leave with your Maori & settler & settle the new world those old world powers will be in for a nice surprise. Also line those coasts with statues...

If you have interest in possibly winning, most likely.

I have no clue what would happen. I have never gotten that far.

Play as Germany. Delete your starting settler. Be a barbarian.

Oohh, I need to try this. Prince difficulty, raging barbarians. I wonder if I could come from behind and win domination without a capital!

I tried this. I found that I was too tempted to settle on natural wonders in between this settler and the new world, and I couldn't figure out which continent was the terra continent. I was also bored by the lack of interactions with other civs.

Seems like a cool idea, but I didn't really find it all that fun when I tried it.
