What should be default settings for game speed and for victory conditions? What is safety victory condition?

I want to play with tribals cus u said they need balance and i might be able to help. Is that wise atm?
 
Daaaaaymn... A bug... Someone just achieved a time victory at turn 10. I started playing "Play now!" mode. :(

Only if you like a real challenge, I have lots of ideas of how I want to balance them, I just need to implement them.

Basically the tribals lack Power and advanced weapons, their advanced weapons fighters are limited to only a handful of each, and in most cases they are weaker than average, except against animals, but they are quicker to produce. Eventually I want to add in things like 'trap units' think (F2 temple traps and pit traps), log traps (think ewoks vs ATST) etc. these will be quick to make and invisible to most units, and have no movement, also (maybe) they will be one use only like missiles, so once a trap is tripped it dies. Then there will be a number of building that they can have, mostly geared towards being able to spread out faster, so a building that gives a bug culture boost, and another that gives a big maintenace reduction, perhaps a uniques palace that gives a huge reduction to 'distance from capital maintenance' or maybe a building that counts as a palace that can be built in every village... things of this nature.

Safest is the Fury road replacement to culture.

as to size and game speed, hopefully it will be players choice, they should all work fine...if I successfully fixed the game length issue.

There are some terrain features id like to suggest. I started a game and opened world editor just to take a look at whats available. Some would be cosmetic or ambient fitting, others would involve something new.
First of all change the name of cows to brahmin (i hope i spelled it well). :P
It seems all rivers are "fine". But shouldnt some of them be contaminated. For example having 2 types of rivers would be nice. Those polluted would diminish the food potential on adjacent tiles, and normal are just normal. Also a polluted river might branch into normal river after certain length. For example that water could be filtered by the rocks and stuff in them and become fresh. Maybe later on a certain water purification technology might help clean those polluted rivers using workers. This could apply to lakes, with exception that mentioned water purification tech would clean all the lakes within cultural borders after some time, or after building some purification plants in cities that have those lakes within its radius.
Adding a crater terrain feature would be kinda nice. High radiation and maybe some defensive bonus etc.

yes Brahmin is definately a change I plan to make, if you look closely you will see (i think it was added in fury road) that they have the classic two heads :-P

as to your other suggestions, nice ideas, but I have no idea how :-P

Fallout(radiation) is basically an impassable terrain type so that would not necessarily work with a crater, you can get radimmune promotion which lets you move through these tiles, but I would also have to learn how to add it in the map script and make craters spawn with fallout.....?!?!?!?.......

I do plan to add a lot of resource types in the future, all your favourite fallout types.

for now just consider all water contaminated, I do want to do something with this, I just don't know what yet. also consider populations to be much smaller than they are...sadly you just have to use you imagination with me, till I can learn how to do this properly!

were you able to integrate the new file ok? it goes in Fallout Tame THe Wastes/assets/XML/gameinfo, and let it replace the existing file... I hope it will solve the problem... if it does I will reupload the main folder.

I can see ur new at modding. U dont really need to add a new river tile to achieve that nor do u need to synch craters with radiation as far as i know. U can use river feature like flood plains. Change the texture to cover the water texture of river and thats it. In mod Pie's Ancient Europe there are swamps that are automatically cleared if the city builds certain buildings. Maybe that could be the basis for your potential river pollution if u intend to implement it.
About the crater, it might be done by changing the texture of fallout terrain feature (duplicating it) and then placing it on any flat terrain. Im not modder myself but i did my share of programing when i was younger and i had to improvise a lot to achieve what i wanted. Never think about adding something new when u could possibly change existing stuff to fit your needs. ;)
 
yeah that would work. I would still need to add it to the mapscript though, right now I jsut don't think it would be that important or add that much, when there are so many other jobs to do :-) The poison water idea is interesting though... worth thinking for the future.

Seeing as most units cannot attack fallout squares anyway, and I would also have to duplicate the python effects for it too, and python has a tendency to go bang whenever I touch it...so python is being left alone till the future, I still have a tech tree to fill up and more besides that are much easier jobs and would add far more to the game than a new piece of mostly impassable terrain.

ok my game has gone to turn 45 without incident so I am going to reupload the main folder.
 
Ofc, balance comes first. But since i just started i cant suggest anything about balance. Need to play it a bit b4 i can suggest anything of that kind. This is just something like trowing out random ideas for the future.
 
I didnt download the new one. Im just playing with no time victory condition. I gotta say tribals have bloody low tech rate. Really low :D
I cant really judge if its balance or not, but its hard :D

I just got wrecked, cus i cant have large enough army and some science at the same time. Their economy is also really bad. I need to play with something else to be able to compare. Was fun though.
 
Discovered the issues with Fury World on Huge, it spawned my starting security unit in the ocean and no settler to be found. This is why i am assuming the mass deaths occurred on my first test. I entered the turn button and lost the game. Lost at Sea0000.JPG

I think that must be an original failing of the map script, I don't think my addition of vaults could break it like that! :-P

on an exciting note, I have successfully added a mod comp. Unfortunately I overwrote the original custom fury road stuff, which means the jroute elements, which allowed vehicles to benefit from highways but not people is broke, I am trying to find the elements from jroute that need to be added in to fix it, so we shall see.

but the exciting news is that you can get extra stuff from pillaging and the RnS get 100% more than everyone else!
