Fury Road LS Mod Mod

check the date/time stamp near the download in my first post

yeah i think you missed the last one, I think i found and fixed that 10 turn issue

re download and unzip, or go up a few posts and find the new victory info file download, I think that is the right name, anyway it is the only other download and it is a page or two back.

fingers crossed that should fix the issue

There are slaves as units and as specialits, as well as free citizens in Pie's Ancient Europe mod.

hehe yeah I added into the latest download version but someone had the bug last night I was just able to fix it quick I think...

yeah I have seen the slaves units and specialists before, I just need to try and find the slave specialists in a mod comp, and not a game mod... so that I i can integrate it

ok just starting the new upload version hopefully with working extrapillage and jroute!

ok guys a question for thought.

I want to change the way that pop growth works, well not entirely but.

Basically you will be able to grow with food as normal, but I also want to add a building that lets you recruit the refugee unit, that allows you to add 1 pop to a city. So provided you have enough food production, you can grow as fast as you can build refugees.

So my question is this:
What should it take to build a refugee:

Same as settler
Same as worker
just hammers like normal units (and hammer cost?)
other (please specify)

Maybe you can ask Pie to tell u what is the mod comp for slaves/free citizens and there is the solution to your problem.

About refugees now. Again i will speak of PAE where there is a similar unit - emigrant. Emigrants cots hammers and 2 population. So if u decide to build it in a city be sure to grow it first. So the point of this production method is ability to allow city to grow even thought you are training a settler-like unit. The other mechanic for get one of those is to have a really unhappy/unhealthy city.

What i learned from that mechanic is that they are more expensive than settlers. They can reduce your population in cities u have problems and they can help colonizing (they can found new cities) or growing your cities. Also, Pie will implement cultural emigration most probably, so that would mean that emigrants from your cities would be carrying your culture helping assimilation of newly conquered cities.

What is a must if u ask me:
-at least 1 population cost
-higher production time
-some logical reason why you should even bother building them

Im "quoting" PAE because that the most complex mod i played for a long time (there are more complex but i havent been playing them as much).

thanks for your thoughts :-)

that system though is backwards compared to how this will work, these are not people moving around your civ, these are lost souls coming out of the wasteland, so the pop cost would be wrong.

The construction represents the application of resources, to find, rescue and integrate individuals or small groups who are struggling alone in the wasteland.

This is a pop growth system, not a pop. redistribution system. Also the building itself will carry negative effects, that represent the application of resources to this task.

The logic of building a refugee is it allows you to grow your towns much faster, and in some cases grow them indefinately if other factors are met.

Ooooooh... I didnt get you the 1st time. So if im correct, this would be a building that attracts the random survivors to join your cities...
If that is true, then there should be some limiting mechanic. For example, the more of the earth is populate, the less refugees would be scattered in the barrens. If possible make it function of total land % owned by all civs. Imagine late game where almost all parts of Earth are covered in borders. Where would you find them? Also it might be in correlation with wars. So wars could impact total amount of "available" refugees.

Btw, i dont have much skill in Photoshop but i can make some cool buttons. What ya need ;)

Aw cool! a button guy would be great!!

give me some time and I will compile a list! I can also help to supply graphics for some of them.

there is one job, I don't know if you can do it or not, but a lot of the leaders have old/wrong 'mini pics' in the civilizations civilopedia, if you wanted to get some screen shots of the right version and make the smaller sized button pics that would be good :-)

I can play with static graphics. That isnt problem. I havent used PS for some time for something "serious" so im a bit rusty. Anyway supply me with instructions and material (if u have) and ill do my best do fit it into this mod. For stuff u dont have material, ill would gladly make several versions and send u for the judgement.
One big notice:
If you think my art sucks, dont be shy to say it. Im not gonna be insulted or anything with the honest response. However, if u say is good and then tell me i suck that would be a bit disappointing. Anyway u can use my art till u find someone whom u consider good. So, i just wanted to tell u this so u know who u work with. ;)
Honesty b4 anything when im helping out ;)

I'm not to fond of the idea of production growing population, however I do like the direction your thoughts are heading. I think it would make more sense that if your civilization was attracting new comers it would be more related to culture/safety. The higher the safety the stronger the likely hood of drawing refugees from the waste. Think of it as a separate great person counter only your culture is to the great person growth rate as the great person produced is to the refugee. People across the waste would hear via word of mouth from merchants that had visted these hubs of civilization where people were safe from raiders and the creatures of the waste. As you develop radio those in the waste could hear broadcasts of the achievements and the success your people developed across time and even get to hear some propoganda ;). This would make the voice of the badlands even more important to the different civ's wishing to draw higher populations.

yeah the limiting mechanic will not be so complicated, basically the main limiter is going to be food production, you still have to feed them when they join the city. Other issues will be happiness etc. grow too fast and everything falls apart.

Also we have to play the game of imagination until I can actually fix it, but we are never talking about hundreds and thousands, more like 1s and 10s of people, so even if you have patrols in an area (safety borders) you may stumble across a house in the woods, a cave in the desert, an underground hide away, that until that moment was unknown and find a family, individual or small community surviving where you can offer the hand of friendship (or subjugation).

Hmmm. If we think of them as small populations there could be a bit different mechanic that would boost the growth. Instead of growing the population instantly (jump from city size of 5 to 6) its not that hard to make it slower. Now imagination comes in. Every time u stumble upon some poor souls the closest city would get an instant food bonus. So if you had 20 food that turn, you would have 21-25 if u find some ppl. That way it wouldnt be so easy to have population booming, but somehow a slow, more natural, way of growth.

thanks for your thoughts deado.

Couple problems, 1) your way is way more complicated!!! :-P

2) the concept is more than simply a word of mouth situation, it is also about applied resources in bringing a 'wanderer' up to the quality of a useful citizen, think clothing, medicine, training, feeding, organising them into the town labour structure, producing propaganda material to go out with merchants or be broadcast over the radio, to really intergrate strangers into a town would require a focussed and determined effort, especially if you want them to work within your civs ideals. Then of course you have the issues of security, wiping out infiltrators from rivals, screening 'dangerously unstable' elements.

Imagine it this way, people are coming and going from towns everywhere, but it takes a focus of resources to make someone stay and settle down.

the way to think of it, is not a population boom, but the town population going from 1 working family, to 2 working families, or a useful individual arriving, so the town size number. the 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. is almost more literal than in normal civ, where it is a figurative statement of size. Eventually I would like the population numbers to actually reflect this, so you get a message like your nation has a pop. of 200! instead of half a million souls.

that is all good mate :-) I can help out with what goes in the buttons, the part I can't do is get those nice 'civ' borders round the buttons with all the shadow and 'depth'.

Any chance u screenshot it and post it here. Also it would help if u circle it with some other color in ms paint so i can figure it out. :D
Im currently rather stupid. Got exam tomorrow morning so im not trying to think atm. :P

yes :D focus on your exams, I will make a folder of stuff over the next few days and then you can have a look, I will put in screenshots etc. to help you see what I mean :-)

I really appreciate all of your interest guys, I hope you do not think I am dismissing your ideas out of hand :-)

I am limited in what I know how to do, so ideas have to fit in that :-P and also I have been building this mod in my head, for i think 2 years at least, hehe so I have a lot of ideas about it :-P

but all of your interest and discussion, really helps motivate me, it is no accident that I have updated it 3 or four times since you guys showed up :-)
