Future Tech Ideas

I would like to find a few future tech ideas.
I think it would be great if there where some more MODs that contained more future techs in them. I my self have had little luck at finding any.

I don't have any ideas, so maybe you guys could help.
 
Hmm, I don't want to see anything too SF like, but I'd like some techs that people are currently working on like quantum computers (science building), anti-artillery lasers building that lowers collateral damage in cities and slows down city defense bombin) or passive radar (easier to intercept stealth bombers).
Maybe quantum computers could lead to some kind of "management AI" to reduce maintainance cost, but his is again too SF...
 
Genetics. We've only touched the surface of it so far.
 
One place to look for future tech ideas is the tech tree of Civilization Call to Power. It has quite a few interesting future techs that go beyond what's ever been in the other Civilization games.

Yeah, but I didn't like it much because it goes way too far...
 
Robot units. They are uber-cheap to build, and pretty powerful, however you can only give general orders like "attack this city", and from then on they are controlled by the computer to simulate artifical intelligence. What they do on the way to the city is controlled by the computer.
 
Nanotechnology. Food and production are now the same accompanied by a boost in the production of those resources.

Upgrade to Fusion which makes nuclear power plants safe and more effective.

In the very distant future: a Theory of Everything for physics, prerequisite for powerful technologies that utilize exotic physics such as teleportation and cloaking devices.

Genetic engineering, eliminates need for health and increases pop quickly. Gives a boost to human units

I never meant to use them all as is without any changes.:mischief:

Pick, choose, change, etc.
 
Here are a few...these are still future but near-future, so they're not so sci-fi.
Space Tourism -trade benefits
Cure for cancer/aids -health bonuses
Room-temperature superconductors -extra % bonus on top of power bonus? Some economic benefit though
EMP weapons -units that can severely damage modern computer-based equipment

You could probably make the genetic techs enable special promotions like "Performance Enhancing Genes" or "Artificial Adreneline Shot" or "Skeletal Engineering"
 
Have a tech for robot soldiers. The units themselves don't have to change, but the tech comes with -100% war weariness. People don't get pissed off if nobody dies.
