is their a point or a use for researching "future techs" towards the end of the game? I stop research at that point but started wondering if it had some uses?

they each give +1 health and +1 happy, unlimited, so if you research 578 of 'em you get 578 of each. if your empire is arranged so that you need that much extra health and happiness, you might be weirder than me tho, and i'm pretty out there myself!

they increase your final score a bit, but not by nearly as much as winning the game very early. and i personally ignore the official score and judge my games by the fun i have.

578 future techs would be very good for an almost unlimited war, imagine being on the happiness threshold due to war weariness then.

Personnally I usually turn off research after discovering 1 Future Tech, cash is better at that stage I think.

I agree they arent very useful, but I like the idea of my civ having futuristic technologies :scan:

always; ok, with 1 or 2 exceptions when the race was close and I had to wage war to slow down the competition. Otherwise, by that time the game is finished anyway. You can't buy spaceship parts and you don't need to buy buildings in your new cities, because anyway, those cities aren't the one building the parts, but your core ones. So your cash is totally useless... Not that future techs aren't close to useless too, but meh...

well, about as useful as future techs, right? :p

If you plan things right, when you start researching future tech, you should be ~25-30 turns from finishing(on marathon). So... who cares ;)

It's been a while since the vanilla cd, but IIRC I only got the health bonus from future tech on the FIRST future tech I got. Unless they just stopped notifying you of this after the first time...
