G+K won't start

Just got G+K and was very excited about playing it. Problem is that it won't start. I've tried both direct x versions and all I get is a blank screen. I turned the start video back on and all I get is a blank screen. I have checked the downloadable content section and it tells me that gods + kings is installed.

Additionally I'm still getting the regular Civ V icon is there supposed to be a "Gods + Kings" start icon unique to the x-pack?

Edit: The game hasn't crashed yet it's just not loading up.

I suppose this is the first time you try to start G&K, and probably also the first time since the latest 2 patches (~3 weeks)?

If yes, then please go to the Civ5 folder, and delete the .wmv files in this folder. Please do the same in the G&K folder.

I can't find any wmv files in the folder. I don't know if it makes a difference but I bought G+K from amazon digital download not steam directly. I did however download it from steam

Where you bought it should not matter, since the games are all tied to Steam.

And I'm not talking about the folder in Documents\My Games, I talk about the one in C:\Program Files\Steam\ etc, please take a close look .

Else you might want to check if this has some effect.

I cannot find Civ 5 in the steam files. I cannot find the program files period. All I get is a bunch of irrelevant info. Am I looking in the wrong place?

First screenshot looks right. Check the Steamapps\common folder please .

I checked it and didn't see anything about wmv files. I also don't see any gods+kings files either...

Is Gods and Kings supposed to have it's own place in the steam library? I can't get any information on patches updates or anything for this x-pack...

mmhh...then please check the integrity of the games files.
To do that open Steam, go to libary, make a right click on Civ5, go to properties, and then choose the tab "local files" in the upcoming menu. There should be a button to check the integrity of the files. Hit it until no files get replaced anymore, then try to play it again.

I tried that and it replaced one file, but it still just comes up as a blank screen, no start up video, nothing...

Tried re-validating the game cache and it again had to replace a file. It had previously said that all files were validated

But the base game worked before, right?

Yeah the base game worked. I think the problem might be the installation of the x-pack. Is there any way to reinstall it?

Theoretically the validation of the file integrity should do more or less the same.
Else I think it's only possible to uninstall the whole thing, but I'm not sure :/.

I think I mentioned this before but I want to reiteriate, there is nothing in the game files that mentions gods and kings. The only place gods and kings shows up is the DLC section on steam.

G+K all comes under Sid Meyer's Civilization 5 in steamapps>common. If you want to find the G+K files themselves they are in the Civ 5 directectory in steamapps>common and look in Assets>DLC>Expansion. The wmv files for G+K are in there.

Ok I got into the file I'm attaching what came up I can't find any WMV files...

You need to show file extensions, the file you have highlighted is a wmv file.
To do this goto Tools>folder options in the menu, select the View tab, then unselect the option to hide extensions for known file types. That will show the extensions with the file names.
