Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

(*) Please read the >> HOF rules << BEFORE playing!

Settings:
  • Victory Condition: Space Colony (though all victory conditions must be enabled)
  • Difficulty: Warlord
  • Starting Era: Ancient
  • Map Size: Small
  • Map Type: Boreal
  • Speed: Epic
  • Civ: Any
  • Opponents: Any
  • Version: 3.17.001
  • Date: 25th April to 10th May 2009
Must not play as Inca.
The earliest finish date wins, with score as a tiebreaker.

Well warlord level is the only level I am missing ;)

I was hoping to do my time victory on that level

At the moment, my first effort is the only entry - 1909AD victory, but that should get beaten easily on Warlord level, i think. I tried again but won an accidental Religious victory while teching Fibre Optics in 1752AD and a OCC failed to beat the time.

Peter is my favourite for this: philosophical trait, starts with hunting on a map covered in deer and a great UB for late game science. The problem with being such a low level is that you cannot trade techs much as the AIs are usually way behind...

Incidentally, I ran the map finder but after 30 regens, it hadn't saved anything! I guess it doesn't like Boreal maps. Any suggestions?

It all depends on what you are looking for. Boreal MF rules will generate lots of maps if they are looking for 1. Camp Resources, 2. Forests, 3. Gems. A 2 gem, 4 camp 10 forest start should yeild good results and a decent numbers of hits.

I'm not sure how to play this one.

Corp resources are at a minimum and average food per tile is rather low. State Property could be the way to go here.

I wonder if the BC's are possible in this one... Strategy: Darius, pop huts with first settler(pop workers and settlers), make all the opponents start without hunting. Settle enough cities with gems + deer research mining -> bw rex normally. use immortals to take out the AI.

If phi is your thing fredrick is probably the way to go, you don't really need a killer UU after all...

I'd be impressed if someone could get a BC Space Colony on any map much less Boreal.

The map really isn't large enough nor productive enough for a BC finish, at least from what I've seen so far. Kamino relied on a massive amount of huts for settlers and techs to do it.

I can't even start to predict what the finish date to beat is going to be though. Not sure of the best way to generate beakers for this game.
I look forward to seeing what sort of strategies evolve though.

On warlord, any speed, any map, the best SC finish is 1496AD (tiny marathon) and that was an Inca win. On small and also the best non-inca win is 1562 AD. On normal the best win for a small warlord SC is 1902 AD. There are no Epic speed SC small wins so that means even the best players in HOF might choose to compete but even at that, I doubt that better than a 500 AD win can be achieved.

Inca isn't really an advantage on warlord difficulty. He would have been much better off using Darius or Liz, heck even Ghandi or Mansa would have been better.

I agree. My only reason for pointing it out is that using Inca isn't allowed in a Gauntlet (usually).

I think Inca would be nice...sure the Quecha rush is a moot point, but Financial and Industrius is a nice combination of traits.

These Boreal maps are tough to play for a space colony. I just submitted a 1876 win which I thought would be near the bottom on the submission list and found out that so far I'm first.
Obviously ShannonCT has not finished or submitted his game :D

Well, I guess I'm jumping on board for a harsh education. Just got BTS in the mail! So, got a lot of Quatro/EQ stuff to start shooting for.

Now, off I go to figure out what the heck I'm doing..........
