Welcome to the third Minor Gauntlet of the CivIV Hall of Fame!

Be advised that HOF Rules do apply, in addition to these settings.

• Difficulty: Warlord
• Mapsize: Small
• Starting Era: Future
• Speed: Marathon
• Submitted on or before: June 24th.
• Victory Condition: Conquest (though all victory conditions must be enabled)
• Map Type: Archipelago
• Opponents: All of the AI with the Aggressive trait: Aztecs, France-Napolean, Greece, Inca, Japan, both Mongolias.
• Version: HOF Mod 1.61.003 or 1.61.004

All other settings are at Player's discretion within HOF rules. Games are to be submitted as normal HOF submissions, final rankings will be sorted by fastest finish date with score as tiebreaker.

We're currently doing some minor upgrades so this Gauntlet may not appear on the actual HOF website for a day or so!

Future is a very new concept for these gaunlets. Should be fun.

Seems you'd want to save the aggressive opponents for a peaceful game to make it interesting. I guess this makes their units a bit stronger at least.

Since this is future age, you start with satellites and a full view of the map. If you regenerate, it's normal fog of war again.

Tech parity with the AI and no way to out-tech. Definitely a new look at things.

Well my first attempt didn't go so good. I forgot about the UN. Whoops!

It especially sucks when I wasn't one of the candidates, plus I hadn't yet met the two candidates so can't get to them. Not for sure if I'll play this one out or not.

Isn't this more of a GotM flavor game?

Just wondering on the rationale to start in the Future era. HoF tables are based on your winning year, so this will naturally exclude every game from the tables other than score/time victories?

OK, I'll throw up my first attempt for everyone to shoot at.....1672AD Conquest.

Learned a lot as I never have gotten into this realm of the game so far.

While it's true that games such as this may not score well on the HOF tables themselves, rank within the Gauntlet list itself will factor heavily in the Challenge (once unveiled).

Granted, these settings are rather atypical for the HOF, but I want to gauge how far from the norm we can deviate and still draw interest. Also, I think it's an excellent test for selecting starting positions for cities.

On my second attempt I got down to 1659AD, but Tokugawa surprised me and I spent too much time eliminating his only city

Yes, any of the archipelago settings are acceptable.

Nobody seems very interested in this one based upon the lack of chatter.

On my last attempt, the original 3 Mechanized Infantry took out 4 opponents.

...without a loss.

I took a crack at it, but wound up triggering Domination three turns before I completed the conquest. It'll get submitted anyway...

Last time I play with No City Razing.

No city razing doesn't do anything on a future start anyway since you start with 5 pop. I mean I guess it keeps them from razing your cities if they get captured but thats not suppose to happen

I tried but it just takes so much time to complete a game. Diplo causes havoc w/so many opponents. This one is tough.
