g3-Regent Game-Civ. (?)

I know, I was in real rush, and remembered when I went to bed. :suicide:

OK well I've played until 580, a lot's happened, so I'll summarize (I didn't keep turn-by-turn notes)

First off at the end of my first turn when india attacked, we got a hero. I traded for Literature and rushed the Great Library, so we're set in techs until the AIs discover Education. Ever since then I've set science to 0%.

We also have contact with every single other civ except for 1 - I don't know who they are. Mao had contacts with practically everyone, so I make a random pick to get the most out of the Great Library - I picked Greece since they're scientific and usually have lotsa stuff. Well turns out they were WAY behind everyone else, so I traded them techs to get contact with like 5 more people, and then I traded Construction around to get contact with the remaining civs as well as world map and some money.

We're now a Monarchy, and we have a ROP with Mao because I was getting REALLY nervous when he sent a stack of archers towards Nagoya. We've got deals with the English and the Iroquois for various luxuries, and it does indeed appear we have the majority of the spices in the world.

Unfortunatley the Greeks landed some settlers on our continent and have placed some cities. Fortunately, all the cities they've placed fit right into our dotmap! So I've got swordsmen sitting by to wait until they grow to size 2 or so, then I'll take them and capture them so we don't have to waste settlers founding cities.

Also the Chinese didn't get past our blockade by land - they finally snuck past by sea and so have one city beyond our borders.

There's essentially room for two more cities in the north area once Yangchow is razed (I think that's the name of the chinese city too close to us). See the original dotmap for details, but don't go to war with China until India is off our continent (let them fester on their island) and Greece is ousted as well (but we regain peace with them, although I doubt they'll be a big threat throughout the game).

Also - the Egyptians are very close to us and very, very weak. They also have a CRAPLOAD OF IVORY on their island. I would suggest taking said island from them before conquering China.

It was just a matter of time until we got company from other islands on our continent... have you retired in this game?
it shows your currnt map, right? i happened one day, out of habit, to press the retire and when i noticed the map, i saw that everyone else is on small islands...

Oh well... whats the roster?

- Robert

Seeing as I forgot last time:

1. gunning1
2. X
3. robehans
4. Killer
5. Pillager
6. ErMaC

Some more general observations:

India doesn't seem to have much fight left in them. Their last source of Iron is right by Delhi, so once we take that they will have no iron to make swordsmen with or upgrade their spearmen to pikemen - meaning easy targets for us.

Kyoto is currently prebuilding for SunTzu. Don't let it finish that marketplace - change it to something bigger if there is anything.
You might want to prebuild in Osaka instead as long as you can get workers over there to improve its land. It doesn't need an aqueduct so it should get bigger and possibly start producing more shields than Kyoto does in the near future.
Getting SunTzu would 1) get us barracks in cities where we don't have em yet and 2) free us from the massive gpt we're paying for our dozen+ barracks currently out there. Plus it'll prevent the computer from getting it which is just as important, I think.

I just noticed that our city Karachi needs to have it's 1 pop point actually WORKING now that I've got it hooked up to luxuries and it doesn't need to be nothing but an entertainer anymore. :crazyeye:

By a stroke of what appears to be really bad luck Greece's only source of fresh water is surrounded by Tundra and a hill tile, which means they'll never be able to irrigate away from it (unless they plop a city there which I know they're too dumb to do).

Build embassies with everyone else - I've been building them but I held off for a few turns to get more money in case of emergencies.

The Zulus are at war with somebody. I don't know who - but probably the greeks. The little road tile you see on our continent near the Persian island used to be a Zulu city, and I didn't destroy it so someone must have.

Oh, shoot. Can't play tonight because I'm going to bed soon, but will play tomorrow.

You know what? Why don't we just let Killer play now, and then I'll play, and we'll go in the regular rotation, and when Killer's turn pops up, he can decide to play or pass. Since he's been gone.:)

so you're gonna skip robehans? Isn't his turn after X's who appears to be AWOL?

I was in southern France - wonderfull place :)

as for the game: I'm happy to play anytime. gunning: just decide how to go; I can be done in 2h if I'm to play!

Oh, OK, now i reread the thread and got what gunning1 ment: he wanted me to play now to make up for my missed turn(s), then pick up where it was....

If someone mails me the game or uploads to the file server I can play right now :D

We're not going to skip you. We're just going to have Killer play, then you me play, then you play, then X, then Killer again.
