Galleys crossed ocean

Hello!

This is the first time I'm reporting a possible bug so I apologize if I'm doing it wrong.

I'm replaying a map I played a while ago and then, suddenly, Charlemagne DOWs me and lands some catapults in my continent. The problem is that we're separated by an ocean and he used two galleys to transport the troops.

The settings of the game are Fractal, Marathon, Emperor, Standard Size.

Here's a screenshot:

The save is attached.

How could this happen?

The only scenario I can imagine is ragnar/charlie closing borders to propel those into your territory. Even so, that doesn't make a whopping amount of sense.

This is a bug. Without a doubt. If this turns into a "works as intended" scenario I'm going to go insane, that is if I'm not already insane.

There's no culture bridge, charlie doesn't have astro, there's no reasonable explanation as to how he teleported 2 galleys to your lands. Ragnar closing borders is all I can think of as a cause but that doesn't make this excusable.

Fortunately for you, it appears he doesn't have anything that can actually take cities.

I wouldn't think the AI would load units onto ships unless they were planning on attacking with them. Almost as if it was planned :shifty:

Most likely it is what TMIT said: the galleys were in Ragnar's land and Ragnar closed OB with Charlie ( checked the save... Ragnar and Charlie don't have OB ) and the ships were close of Nidaros.

And it is working as inten.... *TMIT goes nuts* No, it isn't working as intended, and in fact I already sugested once to make a change to make the "bump" code to check first if the unit could go from where it is to where it is trying to bump unless there is no other option. You could also join the "scout bumps 3245325 units SoD out of neutral tile" scenario as well, as we are in this....

Except this doesn't make sense with the standard war code...even if charlie had him as a war target, how does 4 siege weapons and nothing else count as sufficient unit massing? Is the general naval invasion code for non-betterAI just that weak, or is the bug actually introducing DoW tendencies not typically seen?

I'm not sure if that's what you asked, but Charlie had enough on his hands for quite some time before that. I just ignored it 'cause he didn't have astro.

TMIT, the fact is that the loading of the units in ships AFAIK happens after the buildup phase. if Charlie was in "hands full" for such a time, he should had finished the buildup quite a while ago... the issue is that this two particular galleys were in the wrong ( right, for charlie ) spot to be bumped to the OP territory. A SoD in BtS needs atleast a actual unit killer to be created, so this 4 catapults are not the full SoD, that is for sure

I agree that is somewhat suspect....
