Hi,

I recently installed "Beyond the Sword" and am experiencing several problems with it (I never had a problem with the original game or Warlords). I knew something was up with the game because the colors sometimes (when starting, or when meeting a leader for example) were off (usually black) in the background. Also, when ending a turn there would be a black flash. Now the game is crashing to the desktop. The game crashes and a distorted version of the desktop comes up with the error message

<<Failed to allocate video memory. Please try reducing your graphic settings. File:\main\Civilization4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\CoreLibs\NiDX9Renderer\NiDX9IBManager.cpp, Line:565>>,

then when closed another error message comes up stating something about RunTime is closing the operation, etc. The screen then goes black and I have to manually shut off the computer. I installed the 3.13 patch but it didn't do any good. I also tried lowering the graphic settings but, again, it didn't help. Any idea what is causing the problem?

could you post your dxdiag results?
(click start -> run -> type dxdiag ->hit enter -> in the popoup click on save results -> post that file as an attachment here (click on go advanced -> manage attachments under the reply box))

Thanks.

you have an old graphics card - but I *think* a Radeon 9200 should be up to the job. Your drivers though are :old:
You should get new drivers for your card - and if that does not work you might want to actually reduce the graphics settings in the ingame options
