Game Crushing after patching for v. 2.08

Anyone knows a reason why after downloading official patch (65mb) the game doesn't load anymore?
It crushing at 1st download...
Cannot get why.

I got a:
- intel pentium 4 3.20 ghz
- radeon x700 series
and radeon x700 series secondary
- 2 gb of Ram memory...

Maybe the download file got corrupted. Try downloading again and reinstalling. Hope you have Broadband.

I've tried both the ways:

1st time) downloaded the patch from ingame "check for updates"
2nd time) reinstalled Warlord, checked if it was working and it worked, downloaded from official site the patch and again crushed everytime I run the game.

Do you have the Warlords CD/DVD or did you buy the download version?

The parch only works with the CD/DVD version.

I have bought the DVD of Civ4 and Warlord...

Use this procedure to enable logging: http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/support_logging.htm (however, this procedure is for Civ4, you need to go to the Warlords directory and the ini file there). Then, try to run the game. Then, attach the init.log file to your next post.

Use this procedure to save dxdiag information: http://community.oasisgame.com/lofiversion/index.php/t272.html. Again, attach the file.

Uhm... that did not really bring us forward too much. Your graphics driver is quite new. Your sound driver isn't that new but still this is probably unrelated. The game crashes at FILE Cat Init, which does not tell me much. Hmm.

Anyway... this thread says about a guy whose civ halted on FILE cat init: http://forums.civfanatics.com/archive/index.php/t-176604.html. And in the end, updating sound drivers helped him. So try that.

placebo solution worked

I've deleted Warlords and everything related to mods and similars and reinstalled + repatched.
Now it works.

The strange ways of c++...
