Game fine, then slow, then slower...

Everything is smooth...
Then it slows down a bit... then slows again until becomes unplayable.
I save and reload, and everything ok... until another dozen of turns.

It seems to me to have the increase in slowdown after every diplomacy screen.

I know others noticed this, but not on BUG forum.
Any hints?

AMD Athlon XP 2200
512 RAM
GgForce 6600GT
Windows XP SP1

No Spyware or Adawer (I keep checking often with 4 different Anty Spy)
Latest nVidia drivers. (81 something)

yea i get the same behavior. it doesn't appear to be some sort of huge memory leak (I have to play in windowed mode to make it playable, so i can watch the task manager at the same time..)

I am having this same issue as well. I play through fine for a few turns once I load and once a diplomacy screen runs, it goes to almost 20 minutes just to play one turn, even if I don't do anything in that turn

To give some perspective, I just ordered a unit to skip a turn, it took 5 minutes and 38 seconds for me to be able to do antything else. (and no I am not online and playing on the same computer, I am online on my laptop to give me something to do during these 20 minute long turns.)

I am above recommeded specs, have downloaded every damn new driver available. It took me 15 hours of trying just to be able to get the game to a playable point. I love the game so far, if there was just some damn way to stop it from slowing down so damn much I could deal with the chops in animation and sound.

I think this problem is the possible reason for my crashing to desktop after 20-30 turns.

Exactly the same problem. Major memory leak - after a full round of diplomacy with every known civ I checked my memory usage and it was maxed out and heavily into virtual memory.

Pentium 4, 2.8G processor, 1.25G ram, geForce 5500 card.

I'm just restarting after every diplomacy effort. Plus, I've killed one of my neighbors who kept trying to talk to me....

I'm also experiencing occasional slowdowns. Geforce4 mx 420, 512ram.
Also, when I close the game, my system runs sluggishly, so I have to restart.
