What games from waaaay back do you go still play occasionally?

Note to teens: By waaaay back, I don't mean August 2001. I mean before 1990.

I've gone back to playing Angband (aka Moria/Rogue) on occasion. Despite all the cool graphics these days in games, I find my imagination to be much more powerful.

Only game from before 1990 is Nethack.

And of course Schafkopf, which is a card game (you never said that it has to be a PC/console game ;) )

Despite being born a bit after its release, I've hunted down an NES, along with several games, from Final Fantasy to Ninja Gaiden to Duck Hunt. The graphics don't bother me, since I don't care at all about them [graphics]. Right now, I'm trying out Moonmist, an Infocom (text adventure) game! How's that for old-school? ;)

I only owned my first PC in '95 and first console (PS2) in '02...

Before 1990? Risk, the real one, and chess... :p Maybe the odd scrabble game or two. And cards.

KNAS: I can't get my old Nintendo working anymore. :(

@Knight-Dragon: I guess I meant primarily computer/video games; I'm sure you must have played games back in '95 that were made long before then.

No... My first few games... Master of Magic, Civ2, Civ1, Master of Orion, Romance of the Three Kingdoms III, Genghis Khan II, Doom II...

I'm pretty sure they're all after 1990.

Was only j/k, the earlier post... ;)

:hmm: My TRS-80 system doesn't even work (hasn't for over a decade - and I don't have it anymore). Yes, I remember Pong, and I've seen the 3D one. :) (the link someone found it on had some X-rated stuff, so it's not something I'd post, unless they took that stuff off).

The oldest game I have is probably some import Famicom (NES) game. :) I'd have to look at the copyright dates on the 70+ games.. :mischief: (got a very good deal on Ebay)

last year i found my old atari system and hooked it up. i had to find an adaptor because it hooked up under the uhf/vhf screws which i havent seen on a TV in years.

i found pitfall, combat, defender, and maze craze, but maze craze didnt work. too bad, always liked that game.

My wife and I play super mario brothers and duck hunt together, I have played many older games on my computer recently with emulators, commodore 64, NES, and SNES.

Cromagnon, that stinks...

That was such a great console with such great games. Super Mario Bros. 1 to 3, Gradius IV, Russian Attack and above all that little hockey game with the fat players, skinny players and the medium players.

 I loved it when the skinny guys would get in a fight, and then everyone piles on!

I spent many a long hour on The Guardian Legend - that was a fun game.

I Don't know if some of you have heard about Spectrum, but it was my first computer... I enjoyed it, especially I liked playing 'Dizzy'

My brother and I like to break out the NES to play RBI Baseball every now and again. Sure, the more recent games absolutely destroy it in every measurable area: graphics, sound, playability, depth, you name it; but RBI was the first game I had on NES that I really enjoyed...hours and hours of trash-talkin' entertainment. Maybe we play to go back to an earlier, simpler time...or maybe we just want to play to hit a homerun with a pitcher...

Well, before '95 there were games like Fantasy Empires, which were awsome.

However, if we must go real old, I would say Dungeon of Doom 4.0 for the Mac ;) Or Bolo :D

On PC:
MoM, Civ and Col (really don't know when they came out)

Ah and of course I loved my nintendo:
Super mario bros and Legend of Zelda (I/II) were my all time favourites. They're cool. I just found a copy for Zelda on PC. Not with an emu but completely new modelled and programmed for PC. Wow that rocks all the nice feelings coming back and I can still trash this Ganon guy :goodjob: wohoo

Nice to see some fellow Zelda fans in this PC-infested forum. ;) Undoubtedy one of the all-time-greats.

Huh? I've never heard of anything like this. Sounds suspicious to me. Where did you get it?

Oooh! I remember those. I got pretty far on DoD, and I think I beat it once. Unfortunately for Bolo, I could never play against anyone else (no connection), so I just spent my time killing pillboxes.

How about this one: Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle.
