game only installs partly

Okay a friend of mine installed Civ4 from the dvd, however the game totally left out the part that should have been in "my documents". so the links in the game dir point to nowhere.. upon starting the game, we get a generic windows error message saying the application had to be closed.. it works fine on my machine though.
im using xp pro english, she uses xp home german. could the OS language be the issue?

I have exactly the same problem. I'm using a dutch version of win XP home on a AMD turion, PCI express 256Mb, 1Gb mem...
Installed the game twice on different computers! Friend of mine also has the same problem.

I'm kinda stumped there is nothing to find about this subject anywhere on the internet.
AARGHhh....
