Everyone who has ever played multiplayer Age of Empires knows how invaluable game replays are. They would be incredibly valuable in Civ too. How did my opponent get that wonder so soon? How do they get so many units and conquer that city so soon? I want to replay the game turn by turn and watch what they were researching, what they were producing, what they saw, what they paid cash/faith to purchase, the deals they made, etc. Everything they did. And of course I want to be able to switch perspectives of which player I'm watching during the replay. Would be incredible educational.

You could do that to an extent in previous iterations IIRC, like loading a save choosing another player. I don't think it's possible anymore. But yes, it would be kind of awesome I guess, but not useful for everyone. Talking about everyone and multiplayer, there's no mystery unfortunately : the starting position makes for great civs and great games, or poor civs and losses. Early aggression is the norm. So it's not a matter of how, it's a matter of what.
