Greetings, all.

I'm new here, and being new I'd like to apologise for how basic (if not downright stupid) this question will be. I have tried searching, on the assumption someone's bound to have covered it somewhere, but for some reason I only get a blank screen when I try the search facility.

Can anyone tell me (or point me towards a previous post explaining) the best way to adjust the game speed in terms of the number of years that pass per turn? I know it varies throughout the game, but I find it's still too many and I just can't seem to keep up with the example history set, if you see what I mean. I'm still on chariots and spearman by 2006. Maybe it's just my play style, but the other civs don't seem to be leaving me behind, so they obviously have the same problem...

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the CFC. :)

Gamespeed and historical accuracy have indeed been discussed from day one. Since I don't play normal games I don't deal with this issue, but there are some mod in the modpacks section that are more realisitic in all ways. I'd check there or hope someone else can offer up some tips.

I'm also not sure if this has been covered in the tutorial section.

Well, it may be of help if you created a mod folder and simply tried to modify the gamespeed xml file yourself. Modding XML is easy, so no worries.

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\XML\GameInfo...

Simply hoke in that directory path and copy the "CIV4GameSpeedInfo.xml" file to a mod folder with the following folder path, indenticle to the game's folder path where you go the file from. You edit it in wordpad, just play around with values. It may help you.

C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Mods\Mod Name Here\Assets\XML\GameInfo...
