Game suddenly crashes

I complained about CTD on my PC. But on my Laptop (Dell Insiron 9300 with nvidia-card) it runs perfectly. But this does not change my opinion about that buggy game.

I just have to say you guys are lucky....

I can't even finish one turn without the game CTD'ing.

I've got an Athlon 2600+, ATI Radeon 9600xt, 1gig of RAM...

I've tried the 5.10 & 4.12 catalyst drivers, I can't even get the game to start without unpacking the art0.fpk file...

I try building my first city, and the next thing I see is the desktop.

(UPDATE)
I disabled the AGP section under SMARTGART, and was finally able to play....

Now my question is...is this a driver or game issue?? I hope it's a game issue, so that it can be fixed by the next patch.

I'd thought I share my storie aswell.

I don't suffer from any graphics corruption, only some minor stuttering in movies(nothing big though), but I do suffer from regular crashes and reboots.

Although it could be that my gpu is overheating, cuz I have a fanless Radeon 9500pro, dunno if I have succeded to overclock it though but I do run atitool with the settings 330/300. But I get the same problem without it anyway so I dunno.

Did the unpacking and the radeon fix(i think don't have time now to check) All my other games is working fine.

My specs:

P4 3.2Ghz (hyperthread)
1024mb ram (+2gig virtual memory)
Radeon 9500pro 128mb
Windows XP Home with SP2

Btw, does anyone know a way to see if your GPU is overheating? Because I don't think i've ever seen the temperature of my GPU, and I belive that when the screen is freezing, then somethings up with the temperature somewhere...

Same here.

Win XP with SP2
P4 3.0 Ghz
512 MB ram
Radeon 9800 pro
SB Audigy

Game freezes randomly and forces a reboot - and in the 3000 BC's, not when there's a particular overload of any kind. Sometimes the game hangs up even in the menues BEFORE starting a game!
