Game wont launch

I reviewed the forums alot and couldn't find anyone with this problem sorry if I missed one:

Just bought civ4gold since I played it (civ4) before at a friends house and loved it.

I have a pretty ok system, quad core, vista, directx 10, and figured I could run the game without a hitch so.

Installed the game.. went fine.. directx test went fine everything went fine. but my game wont run. looked and looked the initial install never made a folder! so in unknown confusion I uninstalled the game, rebooted my system, and tried again. This time I got a folder... yay!... now my game wont run it wont even open when i try it thinks for all of 2 seconds and then nothing happens, no window, no bing, nothing.. like I never even tried to launch it. Erm.. Why? I have played any game I wanted to on this computer so far to include civ3 without a hitch. I need a fix.. anything please.

please look in the windows event manager - is there any error message relating to the game?

Not a single error in my event manager however I solved the problem let me put this out there for anyone else on an x64 system dying to use it:

I noted that regardless of if the play disk was in the drive or not the game wouldn't play so figuring it was an issue on with disk loading and x64 architecture I went to a trusted site and downloaded a no-cd crack for my game. Site happened to have 3 of them one of them worked, no hitch, game runs great, and I can keep my disk in the box to never get scratched.. yay.
