Ok, I've edited gamefont(75) and the icons show up correctly everywhere in the game except for the line of icons above the city name, where nothing is showing up.

Anyone have any ideas as to the causes of this?

Yes you need to edit both GameFont files. I've modified them as well and it works perfectly. So if you've edited only the GameFont75.tga file then that would likely be the reason it isn't working completely. ;)

The (75) was meant to indicate GameFont/GameFont75 :)

My experience has been that if the icons have been edited correctly, there won't be any anomalies like the one you mentioned (not showing up above the city names). If any anomalies occur at all, it's only a matter of time until you notice other small problems, icons showing up in odd places, resources being switched around with each other, etc.

Sadly, the only way to fix this is to rebuild the entire gamefont atlas again from scratch (at least that was the only way I found that solved it).

hmm... then if you did edit both... maybe it possible you edited the larger one and then resized it? If that is so it might explain why it isn't working... those pink lines need to be exact... resizing the larger one to a smaller one results in messed up lines.

Are you using Photoshop or PSP7? I used PSP7 and haven't had any problems.

:/ I'm running GIMP, so I don't see any pink lines.

Edit: Perhaps I could post the file and you could check it in PSP7?

Gordon: I've checked around the rest of the screens (civilopedia, city screen, etc, etc) and this is the only place where there is a problem.

Wait. Just when you thought you've looked everywhere... ;)

But the good news is I did mine in Gimp, too. I think it's actually easier to work in than Photoshop.

Try this: Just change one set of icons in GameFont and GameFont_75. Load a saved game in which that religion has been discovered (or add it to your player in the WB). If you've done it right, it will appear correctly everywhere.

Save that file as a backup.

Now edit the next set of icons. Test it. If it works, save a back up, and keep going forward one set of icons at a time.

If it doesn't work, throw it out, and start again using the last backup that DID work.

This is how I got my mod to work.

Good luck!

ahh there you go... Gimp has been known to have problems with Alpha Channels. That's the problem. If you like, send me the larger one and I'll fix it up for you as it should be for the smaller one and make sure they work on my end before sending them back to you. ;)

I *think* the problem was the money icon had a slightly too large background. But, of course, I'm not sure. This sure is a weird file. Wonder why they did it this way instead of separate files for each icon...
