Still new to this modding and stuff but heres the steps i've taken to get this crash:

1. load up Beyond sword through the desktop.
2. can get to the menu and go through custom game but during loading it crash and ^^ thats what i get with the send error report- dont send.
3. I've downloaded the newest patch, also i downloaded FFH 2 which seems to be causing it cause this morning without FFH 2 downloaded it ran fine.

Im not running FFH 2, when the crashing occurs, i did the first time the game crashed so i ran without it and yea still crashing. I've also changed the config file for cheat mode (dont make fun ;) haha) chipotle or whatever.
Also it happens when loading a game, starting a quick game , basically i cant play.
Im sure this has been asked, if so a link to the thread would be great i cant seem to find my answer through the pages.
Also if you need more info just ask the game loads up pretty quick and will crash.
Thanks everyone, as soon as possible would be great!

actually a botched patch caused it - FfH is not the cause of this.

If you don't have Warlords ignore that part.

install the most recent version of DirectX 9c from Microsoft

then do the following for a clean reinstall:

Uninstall and Reinstall Civ4 Warlords BtS :

Try to follow this order when doing stuff:
Use Control panel to uninstall Beyond the Sword, then Warlords, then Vanilla
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
(note: application data is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files, also these directories in application data are sometimes removed by the uninstall routine)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}" (Civ4)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}" (Warlords)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}" (BtS) (note: InstallShield Installation Information is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files).
Install Vanilla, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here)
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here)
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.13 (download it fresh from here).

oh thank god FFH isnt the cause of this sorry about the reposting in the other thread Ori. If i can discuss this issue here then a mod can delete the others obviously.
Im going through the steps at the moment for this and ill post what happens afterwards. Again thanks for the help.

Now should i install FFH 2 after i have done those steps? or what. cause eveything works fine when FFH 2 isn't loaded or installed to my computer

Alright so i did all of it. I reinstalled FFH 2 with Patch H and i got a new error first upon loading up FFH 2 through Beyond the sword:

XML error

tag: ERA_ORDE in info class was incorrect
curring XML file is: xml/civilizations/CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml

also instead of ORDE i got a few others, LEAF, VEIL, RUNE, OCTO, COUN, EMY, then repeat for a bit.

then it crashed to desktop with the send error dont send one.

First does BtS work on its own?
This error message is an FfH problem - all those tags are FfH specific. Are you sure you installed FfH and not just patch H?

Yea BtS works on its own when FFH is not anywhere on the system. As soon as i delete the folder in the mods section it works fine.
Yes i installed it correctly as far as i know...i could be wrong haha but i tried it again and it did the same thing.
Would maybe just running the FFH 2 vanilla version be best? I really just want to try it out.

It is the main file straight from this website. Not sure what the size was i know it was the full file though. See i had to delete it to run the games alone.
Ill move this question over there and see whats going on. Maybe i got just PM you ori instead if thats easier.

I don't like pm for troubleshooting too much since its easier to reread what already happened in the forum than in the inbox :)
I will probably not be online for the next week anyway so go ahead and post in the FfH subforum - if the error persists just post here again...

Sounds good, thanks for all your help. im going to clean the comp out this week slowly and try and take care of any loose ends and re-intall the games again. Who knows i prolly missed something.
