Well, after posting my first thread and doing some research and finally getting a hold of a live person on Gamespy who can help, it turns out they no longer support Civilization 4. Which means, there are no other multiplayer servers (that I know of) that support Civilization 4.

Is there anyone that can help out and direct me to a place where there are a ton of people looking for play online? Are there other means to have a multiplayer game on the Internet without Gamespy that is live?

Please let me know if you can...asap...(I see you guys reading and not replying)

It's suprising they'd still support Civ 3 and not Civ4.

Are you sure it's Civ4 as in Civ4 plus expansions? Maybe they meant vanilla Civ4 (no expansion packs),which would be more likely.

I find that I am not helping here, but I'd like some clarifications.

...Or is it April Fools?

I believe it is vanilla Civ4, but then again, I see all of the other games on their "supported list" that their helpers gave me and Civ4 with or without expansions wasn't on the list at all! It's odd, considering they still support Civ2 multiplayer. Can someone help me find a multiplayer game? ;)

Seriously, though, Gamespy does not support any level of Civ4, even though it's advertised right into the game.

Could you quote the whole list? Link to it (if it's in a website)? From who is this information?

Edit:
Gamespy Internet multiplayer works fine for me. Well, as fine as any dial-up connection can have it. Warlords version 2.08, no problems.

Firewall? Other virus protection?

Civ4 version? Did you click Multiplayer-Internet?

Man, I'm beginning to sound like a call center; at least, what I think it should sound like.

The router and firewall are already bypassed to allow this. Not only that, I tried it in X-Fire, and at least X-Fire recognized it as an installed game, but still didn't have any servers! I did click multiplayer-Internet, and when I attempt to type in my password, it lags for a second and then pretends as though I didn't put anything in...there is no gamespy server!

It appears to be a gamespy problem. It's working fine for some people and not for others.

Online civ (vanilla) is working fine for one of my friends in the states, however it's currently not working for me and my friend who are both in the UK.

That's interesting, because it isn't even on their list of supported games. Not only is it not working for Gamespy, it also can't find a server for X-Fire. You'd think since it was "Game of the Year 2005" and "Gamespy Game of the Year" they'd be in a hurry to fix it instead of continuing to support Civ2.

Thanks for the link, Death to All.

Would anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it or report it to Gamespy?

You're using the in-game gamespy, I assume?

Gamespy arcade does not support Civ4, I recently found.

Yes I think your confusing "support" and "promote". Like I've posted other places here. We all know that Civ4 and Warlords lobbies are "powered by GS", but the agreement that Take2 made was to have Civ4 etc have a completely separate "namespace" within the GS player database, this means that we don't have to worry about duplicate player names conflicting with other GS powered games. But it also meant that while GS powers our lobbies they do not support them with Arcade(which is why they are not on the GSA games list) and they do not moderate them.

This is all not that bad except that GS still insisted that Firaxis make the legal statement that you can "manage your Civ4 GS account at Gamespy" in the MP screen, which is not true and very misleading and confusing for new players. but I've been told there's nothing we can do about that.
