This might not be the right place to ask, but..

I got online through C3C, which works ok, except that I can't see who is in the lobby.. So I tried to install the full gamespy for standalone use instead of going through C3C. For some reason it doesn't remember my data when I register - I go through registration and get the 'ok' and am asked to log on, but the list to select my username from is blank, and when I ask for it to send my password it doesn't know the email I just registered.. I've tried several times, restarted, giving it time to update database etc, but nada. Also updated to the newest version of gamespy, didn't change anything. Any ideas?

Ironduck, if I understand you right you may want to try the "connect" button instead of "logon" in the login window and see if that works. :)

I don't know how to upload a picture, might explain it better.. There is no 'logon' button, only a 'connect', but I need to select profile and type a password first. Which I can't since there is no profile to select (because it doesn't seem to save me in the database). Very odd.

Yea this is Odd. Can you type in ur usename and password and then hit "connect" ? I believe you can change ur avatar once your logged in. :crazyeye:

Nope, it won't let me type anything in the username string, only select from a menu, but the menu is empty and no matter how many times I register an account it never remembers my email or username.. on the other hand, I have no problems getting online with c3c directly. Just would like to be able to see who is in the lobby.

maybe u may try register it again and see if it works..never happened to me tho. yea the good thing to have GS is that u can have a live image of the game lobby ( who is online, their locations if available, their pings n their fancy avatars :)

I've tried registering about 10 times now :) with different emails etc.. gonna see if I can get a reply from their tech support.

I found a way to fix this. Registering through the website instead of using the registration wizard did the trick :)

cool glad u figured this one out...they should fix the gayspy software so noone would suffer again. :crazyeye:

The exact same thing has been happening to me. I contaccted GameSpy customer support, they weren't very helpful, they told me to disable any virus control software or firewalls and then try again... but I don't even have any of these, so this advise was pretty useless.

I haven't tried registering through their site, that's a good idea if it works.

They keep giving me that blah about firewalls, even though I've explained 4 times now (they keep coming back even after I told them I fixed it!) that it has nothing to do with that. To play civ online you do need to open the relevant ports and/or allow program access, but that's no sweat if you know how. The trouble lies with a bug in the gamespy registration wizard. Registering through the website circumvents this issue. I forget where on the site I did that, but you can always ask them.
