Gatoutak's Map Shack

Wow these are really great maps, I like that Taino a lot - keep up the good work!

Just to let you know, Arabic is always written joined up, unlike most other languages so the Arabic script on your Italian Somalialand map is wrong. Each letter must be connected to the last or it's essentially gibberish. Vanilla Civ 5 makes the same mistake in the Morrocco map afaik so its an easy mistake to make. In Arabic it'd be الصومال الإيطالية.

Of course that's beside the point as they speak Somali in Somalia, not Arabic. Its still written joined up but is totally different grammatically and such, so while you have 'Al Somalia Al Aytaly' it should be 'Talyaani Soomaaliya' or, in the Arabic script used in Somalia, تلياني سومعلية*

*I don't actually speak or write Somali so can't confirm whether this is actually the correct spelling of Talyaani Soomaaliya, it just works phonetically.

Ah, okay. So something like this would be more accurate?

Yeah, thats perfect!

Wow you are just awesome man. (You too Urdnot :D)

If anyone wants to request a whole bunch of maps at once, I have expanded the queue.

(also I really appreciate all of your kind words :D)

Yeah can I get one for the Fatimids based off of this map, one for the Rustamids based off of this map and one for the Ghassanids?

When I say based off of I just mean in terms of how far the borders reach - if you google it there are loads of images with unrealistically large borders for the Fatimids and Rustamids. The rest of the map is up to you since obviously these reference maps wouldn't make very pretty maps (the ghassanid one is way too zoomed out etc. etc.)

Thanks!

For the Fatimids - would it be safe to assume this would be circa 1000? Just want to make sure.

Yeah that works, under Sitt Al Mulk

Any chance you can do a map for me?

French Algeria:

this map here shows the expansion rate of the colony.

Those are gorgeous, thanks so much!

I've noticed you have added some icons to the wiki. Do you plan on starting a thread for your civs? By the way, I suppose the alternate Aztec leader will be Itzcoatl?

I've given myself the vague goal of 'make a thread in December'. Itzcoatl may or may not be among them if I think of anything beyond 'it has Itzcoatl'.

These are great. What reference map did you use for the Ghassanids though? The one on wikipedia is pretty general. This is a more accurate one. The capital was Jabiya and their rule may have extended south to Yathrib, Yatrid on the map.

Hmm I've never heard anything about the Ghassanids ever establishing proper control as far south as Yathrib, other than through very vague tribal associations or alliances. Do you have a source for that?
