What about about the general resources use in Civ 5. Will just one source of oli be sufficient for an Empire of millions of people?
 
oil is a strategic resourse.
 
Any resource needed to build a unit only provides enuff to build certain qty. Proabley 5, but that is just a guess.

the tiles tell you exactly how many individual resources a iron mine, or horse pasture produces. Alothugh we are not sure what that exact number is, or if it identical for every resource on the map.
 
It could be interesting the presence of different sources of a resource all around the world with different disponibily of this resource. It is so in our world.
Then I don't think that the fact that just one luxury resource is sufficient for big empires is neither funny nor realistic. The fact that a resource source is not infinite could stimolate on the one hand conquests and conflicts (that according to me are funny jast in games!) and on the other hand the commerce among the countries.
What do you think about that?

I don't see making one luxury resource sufficient for a whole empire as much of a problem. In the end the luxury resource only makes a difference in the cities that are close to the happy cap, and even in the largest empires that is only a small number of cities. There is not much of a practical difference in gameplay between making a luxury resource sufficient for the whole empire and making a luxury resource sufficient for 5 cities or some other mechanism, excpet of course that the first option requires less micromanagement.

I think I saw a screenshot with an iron spot that gave 2 iron resources. I can't find it again, though.

yes i posted it, ill dig it up, and youll notice that the resource in question is not being worked nor does it have a mine, so who knows what that means at this point.

The iron the tooltip is desribing is just beneath the selected gunship at the top the screen outside culture border.
