Genetic AI Project

TGA, can you periodically update the number of results from each set that has been turned in? The number of views is just the number of downloads, right? That way we can tell if you need a set run still.
 
As far as I am aware there are no results from the available downloads which have been submitted. My filing system might have gotten mixed up, but I don't think so. I made 1000 AIs this generation and they seem to be getting downloads fairly quickly, though I'm pretty sure not every download is somebody actually running the test, which is a pain. I'd much rather have duplicate work then work not done at all.

Which is why we can not rely on the download numbers to determine what sets you need to have run.

I think I sent you a size 50 ai last night
 
I am all over this thing man! This is really an amazing undertaking (and why the heck didn't you tell me about this :))! Since I'm at work I can have this thing running at least 8 hours a day and hopefully it'll be helpful :D.
 
I left it running during the last couple night and it left me a present ;), unfortuatly though, the only way I could get out of civ4 (stuipid firewall brought me out) to do other things was to use the task manager, so I don't have your email. :crazyeye:

Anyway hopefully these are the right files :) :
 
I'll probably be running another generation either tonight or tomorrow night- depends on how the testing of my AI city specialization code goes. Looking at the time it will probably be tomorrow.

My test(generetion 3) is running again hehe, hope I can finish this weekend, I didnt have much time this week..
 
Another set, i think its generation 2 though i am not 100% sure. Either way, it seems that there is already a slight improvement; the average fitness was around 2700-3000 this time around versus the average of like 2000ish for the two generation 1 sets i ran. And only three AIs were LESS than Firaxis AI this time.

Civilization4.ini - you need to change the autosave interval to 0. You can find it in My Documents/My Games/SMC4

If everything works tonight I'm going to release the 4th Generation as well as an update tomorrow.
 
Any setting preferences? Right now I've set everything to random, except the world type which is shuffle (I assume that's like shuffle?) and since the speed doesn't have a random I've got it on Normal.

Just wondering whether I should be using the "assign random personalities" setting.
 
It's all up to you really. I would suggest a standard size map, although it doesn't really make much difference.

The players are assigned randomly so random personalities won't make any difference.
 
Does it save the progress immidiately after each game? I have encountered a few times where I came back to the computer and found it had crashed, would it have saved all games up to the point it crashed? Also, which file do we upload?

every game is saved after running, so you should at least have data up to the moment it crashed.

you want to upload the deadaidataXX.txt and aidataXX.txt files.
 
I got a strange runtime eror message. Anyone else getting this?
 
No idea what's causing the strage error message. I think several people have reported it, but it could be anything causing it. I am yet to get one on my machine so there is unfortunetly very little I can do about fixing it.

Attached is a collection of the best 18 AIs from generation 3. These aren't for testing, but if anybody wants to play some single player games against different AIs these are the ones to go for. You still can't load/save, so you'll just have to minimize when you stop playing, or play in one sitting. Have fun!

Oh. You'll have to rename it AIData.txt for it to work. Apart from that use as normal. I should have update the code to be able to find it, but I didn't... Next time!
