Get Your War On.

This is one of my favorite web cartoons. It began in October of 2001 and has been acclaimed by critics for the way it represents the post-9/11 American emotional state. I just think it's funny because of the repetitive clip art characters and the excessive use of profanity. It is probably insulting and offensive to a great many people, but it does make you think.

I linked to the beginning of the strip, but you might want to check out page seventeen, the most recent edition. It deals with the appointment of Henry Kissinger to the investigation of the 9/11 attacks. It also poses questions like "When Henry Kissinger signs a government paycheck, does he use ballpoint pen or the bloody, severed limb of an East Timorese child?"

The author of "Get Your War On," David Rees, also does two other clip art-based cartoons, called "My New Fighting Technique Is Unstoppable," about karate students who fight and swear all day, and "My New Filing Technique Is Unstoppable," about office workers who file and swear all day.

I don't find it very offensive, nor do I find it very funny. Everything said there rings some degree of truth of bitterness and ignorance.
