I played civ 5 a year ago when research agreements = free tech. Played on deity, won couple times. Couple days ago Ive come back. Having a much harder time on Deity.

Are people still spamming trading posts?

Are research agreements worth it? 250 gold for 1/3 of a tech, not sure

Is AI any better at amphibious landings?

What are the more popular social policies? In my short time back Honor has been appealing

Research agreements are still worth it, especially if you have the Porcelain Tower or Rationalism, but worth it either way.

I spam trading posts in all my city-states, but farm my own cities, but I don't build too many cities for myself generally (4-6 average).

AI is still terrible at amphibious landings and any naval actions in general. Pangaea is the only way to play as the AI is incompetent with anything involving the ocean.

Most popular social policies depends on playstyle, but Liberty seems to be the usual favorite.

How much a RA is worth depends on how many tech and how expensive in beakers they are. A RA will get you the median value. Therefore you need to try to push the median up.
Look at the tech tree when reading this: For e.g. when you finish researching Refrigeration both Penicillin and Plastics become available (from the Modern Era). Now if you finished Telegraph instead only 1 tech of that value became available (Electronics)). Usually your other open techs are of lower value, so the two Modern Era techs shift the Median higher than only one of them becoming available.
