Getting Civ To Play With It's Self

Is there anyway of doing this?

Yes, and you don't need a mod.
  1. Set
    Code:
    CheatCode = chipotle
    in your BTS .ini file, Civ 4\Beyond the Sword\_Civ4Config.
  2. In-game, press Ctrl-Z to reveal the map and AI cities and research.
  3. Press the ` key to bring up the console.
  4. Type game.aiplay someNumberOfTurns and press Enter to remove your civ from the game and watch the AI play automatically for that many turns. When it's done, you can go and inspect their cities (press ` again to remove the console). Then you can do the same thing again to watch the AI play more turns.

Thanks for the tip. It really ought to be in a Civ IV FAQ or Wiki.

I'd assume the methods described above, but wouldn't it be better worded "getting a civ to play against itself/autoplay?" I won't expand on why though, you can ask someone else ;)

I just was reading through this and I gave it a try. Though I started a game at deity and set the AI to control my civ. Though it doesn't really look like a Deity AI playing my civ. Is there anyway to do this so that when the AI takes over it will be at the same level as the computers?

@remoke20: I'm pretty sure the AI just takes over decision making, it doesn't get any AI-specific difficulty benefits though. In a diety game it should suffer the same disadvantages a human would, since a human player still counts as human even if the AI takes over (please correct me if I'm wrong). So for better comparability you should start a Noble game unless you want one player to be at a serious disadvantage. (And in case you didn't know: there is no such thing as a diety AI, it doesn't get smarter, just gets more advantages in higher difficulty levels).
The modcomp AI autoplay is in all Better BTS AI based mods that don't forget to include and load AIAutoPlay.py, including my own.
game.aiplay is similar but not the same as AI Autoplay, not just because of how you access it. AI Autoplay definitely has its own code additions/changes in he SDK, which is also included in BULL as an optional component (cflag /D_MOD_AIAUTOPLAY).

lol on the title, but is there anyway that you can vassle yourself to another civ?

WorldBuilder. Don't do it, the AI basically will ask for tribute at random, and it will appear as a pop up rather than in the diplomacy screen.
