What? LOL.

On prince difficulty.

Gah, the tech tree is so "bleh".

First 2 games i played i had mech infantry in the 1800's. Infact, i had mech infantry up and rolling before i had tanks. In the time it took to build 1 tank, i teched and upgarded all my riflemen to mech infantry. Same thing with muskets/riflemen & cannons/artillery. I always seem to get the later version before the early version due to the closeness of the techs.

Anyway, there's no real point to this point. Just saying...

And yes i need to play at higher difficulty. I figured playing the normal difficulty would be easier to learn the new mechanics. But if ghandi is hitting medieval in the BC's.. i wonder how it's going to be at harder difficulties.

They'll hit it earlier because of their bonuses, that's how it'll be. The rates for research, production, etc. are all fumbled up. It's really stupid.

I think I've entered it even earlier than that, the Great Library offers quite a few big jumps.

Its not realy hard, you just blitz your tech up. Eras mean very litte, it only means you researched one tech in that period, you can blitz up to certain eras with very little effort.

In every Civ games, due to bonuses/exchange tech, at high leve, games were usually ended next to 1200-1300AD with a space victory from a random civ.

I guess it has been slowed down thanks to no more tech exchange, but getting to medieval so soon is not really difficult if you follow the fastest path to it, and just ignore all other tech.

Research pact is how the cpu get to stupid fast tech... You can do the same, and once you do, you stop the cpu from doing it because they won't have people with money to trade with them...

The system is quite broken at its current state...

Actually beeline to modern without researching all the units in the older techs is the ONLY way combat becomes an issue... I actually played a game like that and was throughly whipped by longswords LOL...

Not to mention the turns it take to keep going up the ladder on marathon! It gets to 100+ turns, a huge deterrence to keep tech lower until you get the pop...

I really wish researching was slower, and production was faster, a few turns after building and upgrading to muskets, i unlock riflemen.

I feel the same for longswords... Next tech up is musketmen with more str and less build time... Totally puts the Japanese Samurai to shame... They don't need iron either *rolleyes*

This is exactly why I play marathon games only... Cause I like to stay in an era and have wars along the way...

I think all tech needs to be at least 50+ turns on the FAST side... And maybe a bit faster in the start where everything is too slow...

I've entered renaissance at 750 BC, Medieval at 925 BC with Babylon, its nothing special really.

LOL why I'll be danged, I stand corrected...

I still pick them over longswords tho because they come out so much faster...

Longswordsman - 18 str, 180 cost, requires Iron
Musketman - 16 str, 150 cost, requires no resources.
