I think I'm going to put this game on hold for a while then maybe I'll see if it's salvageable. I might have been overzelaous in my attempts to block Darius which meant I limped to Pottery in 1000 BC.
I'll illustrate my main issue though for now:

Looks bad. Shaka really took a key blocking spot there.Darius has expanded fast too.

That is the weirdest city spot I would ever imagine Shaka settling....

To be honest, I'd settle another city close to that and hope you can culturally flip Shaka's city or at least contain his expansion. He should be angry enough at other AI's not to declare war on you, and you can join the fun against him if he declares on Gandhi or Darius by bribing whoever is not in the war into it as well so it's a safe 3 v 1.

I've been waiting ages for an update only for you to put your game on hold.

Only kidding.

I did start this game and thought this is not going to be very easy (for me that is ). I managed 3 cities, Barcelona 1SE (might be 1S on the hill) of where you have it. Unfortunately it is already being culturally pressed by Ghandi (possibly a holy city can't see yet). I think the 3rd city went where Shaka placed his city to the North of Madrid.

My long term plan was to attack Ghandi but it might be a better idea to try and buddy up to Shaka, let him declare on Ghandi/Darius, join in and try and steal some cities that way.

Have to see how it goes.
