NOTE: This thread supersedes all individual goblin unit discussion threads. Please post comments regarding any goblin units to this thread.

I know I've said it before, but these are really great, Nomad. One of my friends is doing a Dragonlance mod (once he gets to his new home), and DL goblins look exactly like these. He's going to think he's dreaming when he sees them all.

Thanks! Compliments are always appreciated :D.

I wish I would have taken your advice earlier on doing a unit pack; compiling these took a little time. It's much easier doing it this way and keeps the forum from unnecessary clutter.

All excellent but I love the Arquebusier!

I think I found a decent Warg:

It needs a bit of tweaking and a re-color, but I think it will do nicely to meet the requirements of something distinct for the wolf rider upgrade :).

I like that! And it's different from the LOTR style which is good (Warg is not a Tolkien invention anyway). But the sleek/sinister style is refreshing compared to the more standard hulking look. Although it should still be bigger than wolf (ie, goblin rider smaller in proportion).

Maybe remove bone/spikes from ribcage? They look a little out-of-place and would get in the way of a rider.

Yep, agreed; I will be removing the spikes from the torso. The nice thing is because it is sleeker I can make the warg larger and the goblin will still fit :).

This is from Atlantica Online so naturally it is a bit cartoon-ish. Some of the other features will be tweaked as well to give it a more "natural" look (if there is such a thing for a goblin riding a warg ). I will shade it to charcoal-black with ebon horns and claws but keep the red eyes. Here is a preview:

I've now played about 500 total turns in Éa over six games, in three of which I encountered Goblin encampments. I really, really liked how the swarms of little guys kept hurling themselves at my Sidhe Warriors even though they were getting mowed down because of the way Paz put lots of unit members in. But it was always a bit of an Oh no not now! when Wargs and Warg Riders (both Orc and Goblin) crashed the party.
BTW, if you're having trouble with the no-transparency unit skins thing (I've noticed black patches on the wargs and on gandalf), I think you can use a BuildingShader instead of a UnitShader to allow transparency.

Oooh, that's an interesting thought; I was hoping someone would shed some light on the transparency problem. If it can be done for Team Color or using a BuildingShader, then it may just be a matter of tweaking. I hadn't worried about it too much initially, but it's getting to become a regular pain in the arse.
