This is no spam. I just wanted to say how great it is that a thing as GotM excists! What would I do without GotM? Hours of playing would have to be filled in otherwise (ok, 30 minutes this time). I want to say to all the people, let GotM be as it is, it's is already perfect. All proposed changes only make it more difficult and less fun. By this I found the 'I-love-GotM' club. Who wanna join?

I also love the Civ2 gotm.

As far as rules changes, I don't know enough to say, but I do know the Small Map makes a Big Difference for me. One game I played with myself on Huge Map, to bait the computer into nuclear SDI war, took me a year.

It would be nice to not play pangea all the time, and the variety King Emperor Deity seems fine to me.

How nice. I do like the GOTM still, though my interest for Civ2 has faded since Civ3 is out.

I must confess to a love-hate relationship with GOTM
While I love the concept, and have learned some from playing, My free time is so small that I have a difficult time finishing, and never take the time to peruse others' games to learn from them. I also find my place in the rankings, while higher than I expected initially, has not risen, and become a source of mild frustration. Bear in mind that ALL of these difficulties are strictly my own and have nothing to do with the set-up of GOTM (though I still wouldn't mind a two-month game )

I DO agree that small map games are the best. They're all I plan to even attempt, and the King-Emperor-Deity range works great for me. It would be great to try some different things, like odd-map sizes, no huts, etc. to spice things up and force different strategies. Also, I would love to see some games already started to some initial major decision point (such as TF did once way back when) to compare how we all resond to an identical situation.

So for now, consider me a half-member of the WLGC

I love the Civ II GOTM! It is the only thing that keeps me playing Civ II now that we have Civ III.

Continuing to play the GOTM has finally paid off for me - I'm now in the top 50 in the Global Ranking![dance]

I guess I'm into this a bit much. I haven't started this month's GOTM (yet) because I'm "researching" Mongols at the King level on small maps (7 different games so far this month). I'm a little slow at conquest, maybe because I enjoy the playing of the game & don't want it to end. Picture a cat playing with a wounded mouse, showing off to whomever wants to watch...

No lucky I'm not back yet - and I don't think I'll ever be back playing GOTM. I haven't touched a game of Civ, be it 1, 2 or 3 since fall 2001 and my studies take way to much time for me to even consider playing again!

The only game that I'm playing at all any more is Utopia, but that is mostly because that is just a few minutes at odd times of the day.

I still drop by from time to time, to see how things are going but I'm pretty happy that I don't feel addicted to Civ or CFC any more - it actually give me time to have a life outside my room and the internet ;-) - No seriously my school take so much time that everything els is secondary, well almost everything els! Can't live without partying!!!

I GOTM and have played all since Gotm 7 I think, but recently my results have not been posted, What is happening ?

Have you not received the E-mail or is the file not attached?

I'll try again with GOTM15, but if that is not included then i will call it quits.
