Golden age event!

I just got a golden age event! A soldier ran 26 miles to warn the troops of the upcoming invasion, and I got a golden age! Anyone ever get this one before?

yea, I got this once, except their invasion was one lonely horse archer who wanted to pillage a road
i was the one invading them with 20 janissaries a couple tiles away
anyone know what the prereqs are? just being at war?

There's a chance of this being triggered whenever another civ sneak attacks you. Can be very handy if you need to get some units quickly for defence.

I've never gotten that one but I've had the colosseums quest or something where at the end you can get a golden age if you have the Statue of Zeus.

Got it once. Came in very handy because I was then able to switch to police state/nationalism/theocracy without the requisite 2 turn anarchy.

Got it a few times. The other events or quests which trigger golden ages are also wonderful (for example the Musketeer quest).

Here's the some of the info about the one you're wondering about

Marathon
Prereq: You at war with other Player, other player makes first attack on your plot.

So far I've had 5 golden ages in my current mp game. I'm around 1780 at this point. I got the marathon GA mentioned above. I also got the colliseum GA mentioned above. In addition, I got a GA for training musketmen (had the Taj Mahal already). I also got a GA from the Taj Mahal and my 1st great person. The 5th was from another random event that I just can't think of right now.
