Mutation takes a large portion of the games promotions and mixes them up...
I've never seen a unique mut. prom. they've always been used somewhere else.
The Light and Heavy promotions used to be given to golems by the Velox Workshop and Armament Molds UB, respectively. (Often, a unit would get both, which sounds contradictory and is annoying because extra movement doesn't make up for extra movement costs and the strength boost of heavy is less that the penalty from Light. Edit: I might have remembered their strength changes wrong, as I'm on a school computer and couldn't check. Still, extra terrain movement costs makes extra movement worthless.) These UBs no longer exist, so golems don't get the promotions anymore.
It seems like someone was planning to mod in ways to get it back through retrofitting spells. I wonder who that was?
Hmm. Heavy gives +30% Strength and Light -10% Strength i belive (might be misremembering 20% but definately not 30% or above...).
And its no problem to move them around on roads. In unimproved Terrain it sucks though.
So I rather like the light-heavy hybrids (gaining +10%/+20% strength +10% withdraw-chance, + 1 movement and +1 terrain movement cost overall) from mutation for home-defense or one-man/women army...
Having had a few Light+Heavy units in my last complete game, I have to say they're pretty good, if completely illogical. The Heavy movement penalty doesn't apply to roads, so it's bonus+bonus especially if you have commando.
