World Weekly News - December 18th, 1964

Governments start re-forming in many nations.

As the pollution from the Nuclear Exchange of 17/62 starts to go away, Government’s are
starting to come back, or change, in many nations. First, we go to Eastern Europe. In Greece, a
fairly bloody revolution took place, by pro-Democracy forces, and, while fighting is still
occurring, it looks as though the pro-Democracy forces in Greece might just be the victors. This
all started after the Dictator of Greece started making comments about Nuclear Weapons, and
how Greece “needed to be able to protect herself against her enemies”. Hungary has had a coup
d’etat take place, and the Military is not in charge of that nation. No word yet on why this
occurred. In Poland, the Totalitarian Communist regime collapsed after several weeks of
rioting, and strikes in the nation. The Government called upon the military to intervene, but the
military refused. A full-fledged revolt occurred, after which time a Democracy has emerged,
albeit a fledgling one. Poland is expected to as permission to join the EU. In Romania, this
nation was very heavily nuked, but, with most of the pollution finally receding after 2 years, a
Democracy has taken over. They have had their first elections, but will need a lot of help in
rebuilding. They are also expected to ask to be able to join the EU. In Albania, the Dictator
there declared Albania to be a Communist nation, but he would remain in charge. In Austria, a
Democratic Government also has taken control. In the United Arab Republic, a Dictator has
taken over, and pledges to “protect all Muslims against Spanish Imperialism!” In Saudi Arabia,
an Islamic Fundamentalist Cleric has taken over. He has pledged to “rebuild the proud Muslim
nation of Saudi Arabia”, and to “reclaim the land stolen by the evil Christian Spanish Crusaders”
For reasons unknown, the Iraq Government has fallen. It was always close to Anarchy, and a bid
by the Government to impose Martial Law apparently led to riots, and a Revolution.

Economies increase across the globe.

As Governments are starting to come back to power, in many nations, they are starting to rebuilt
after the catastrophe of 17/62. Consequently, the economies of most nations have risen by one
level, sometime more, in certain nations.

Republic of the Congo annexes the . . . Republic of the Congo, and renames
itself

The Republic of the Congo (the big one) has completed their annexation of the smaller Republic
of the Congo, and renamed the new nation Zaire. The excuse given to WNN reporters is that the
smaller Republic of the Congo is “illegitimate”, and “break-away province”. This was denied by
the smaller Republic of the Congo before their nation was swallowed up.

Malaysia and the New Khmer Alliance attack and invade Thailand

Malaysia and the NKE launched a massive invasion of Thailand, but they did not get very far.
The invasion started out to be very successful, and both the NKE and Malaysia got a good
amount of land. But then the Thai Government announced that they had obtained 3 nuclear
Weapons, and threatened to use them if the NKE and Malaysia did not stop invading. The NKE
and Malaysia Generals did so, and Thailand is now demanding that Malaysia and the NKE
withdraw from Thailand, or face the punishment, via Nuclear Devices that Thailand is
threatening to detonate inside of the NKE and Malaysia. Currently, the situation is at a stand-
off, but Thailand seems very serious about Nuking both Malaysia and the NKE. Inside of
Thailand, in the capital, Bangkok, there was an attempted Revolution, but it was quickly
stopped, and the several thousand participants were rounded up and shot. In somewhat related
news, the Governments of Laos and Cambodia have fallen, but it is unclear if that is related to
this conflict. One benefit of this Invasion of Thailand is to demonstrate the Superiority of the
Adnan Tanks. In several battles that WNN Reporters witnessed, involving Adnan Tanks and
regular Thai Tanks, the Adnan’s were clearly superior, and are very capable units.

Major push by Allied Forces into North Vietnam turns to be a disaster!

The Coalition of Forces, lead by the Commonwealth Union, and including Australian, South
Africa, and Soviet forces that successfully liberated South Vietnam decided to push on, and to
try and re-unite the Vietnams. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disaster. The Coalition of
Forces had a good number of forces, but they quickly ran into trouble. First, the North
Vietnamese seemed to know exactly how many forces that were coming at them, and where
from. The battle started with the Coalition starting a massive barrage, and invading with their
over 100,000 troops. Initially, the going was easy, but it all turned out to be a massive
deception. The North Vietnamese had laid traps, bombs, and had a new kind of force, the
Vietcong. Along with a massive Chinese force, they managed to stop, and reverse the North
Vietnamese invasion efforts. Casualties were high on both sides, but especially on the Coalition.
The new kind of unit that the North has, the Vietcong, are fighters trained in Guerilla warfare,
and expert at fighting in jungles. They were able to harass the Coalition troops, many fighting
for the first time in jungle, enough so that the Coalition was eventually forced to retreat. The
North Vietnamese and Chinese forces did not pursue the Coalition forces across the border,
currently a kind of stalemate exists, but the situation remains very tense. Acadia and Quebec
have decided to rescind their troops from the battle. They have had enough, they say, South
Vietnam has been saved, that should be enough. In other news, we have sketchy, unconfirmed
reports that some unknown force has been sabotaging Thai tanks, and killing Thai military
officers. Thai Officials refused to comment.

Australia holds election, referendum, and more.

Australia recently held a referendum in Papua New Guinea on whether or not Papua New
Guinea wants to remain part of Australia, and here are the official Results:

55% - YES
44% - NO
1% - DON’T CARE

That seems like quite a ringing endorsement for Australia, but that will likely not stay that way
forever, eventually Papua New Guineans will want to separate, and become their own nation.
Australia also held General Elections, and here are the Results:

Party Name - % Vote - Seats (/250)
Liberal Party - 47% - 169
Labour Party - 28% - 70
Country Party - 10% - 5
Communist Party - 9% - 6
Other (Pro-Nuke, Anti-Colchesterist, Catholic Convert party) - 6% - 0

Not very surprising results, the popular Robert Menzies and the Liberals win another 5 year term
in Office. Menzies is a very powerful man, and well liked. In other Australian News, their
Government has announced that they have destroyed their Nuclear Arsenal, and offered proof,
and teams have been dispatched to clean up the Nuclear Pollution in Western Australia. They
have made headway, but it will take more time yet. Meanwhile, some of the citizens in
Australia-occupied Indonesia are still protesting, some Sukarno loyalists are still causing trouble,
and some Indonesians are demanding that Australia spends eco to fix up their occupied nation,
like they did to Papua New Guinea. The protests have died down in recent weeks though, as the
well-trained and armed Australia Military gets things under control.

India, China announce peace

India and China have, in a joint declaration, stated that they have come to a peace agreement
ending their brutal war. The battles that they have been having succeeded mostly in killing each
other’s men, not doing much else. In other Indian news, we have unconfirmed reports from
Pakistanis fleeing India-occupied Pakistan that the Indian Government is taking part in
“atrocities”, such as random killings, and a brutal crackdown on Muslims. Millions of Muslims
have fled West Pakistan for Afghanistan, and East Pakistan for Malaysia, mostly. We also have
unconfirmed reports that the leader of the Pakistani Resistance, Cleric Abdul, was shot and
killed by Indian troops. India has launched a massive anti-China propaganda campaign in India,
claiming taht China is responsible for many tragedies, and genocides, and accusing the Chinese
of, well, pretty much anything. The Indian people are starting to believe their Government, and
have grown increasing patriotic. On a final note, construction has started on the city of New
Delhi. It is expected to be rebuilt soon.

(-3,000 Indian Troops, -4 Indian Tanks)

China rebuilds, begins One Child Policy, and more

China today has announced that they will rebuild the 4 cities of theirs that got nuked, and,
indeed, they have started. They have rebuilt all the infrastructure, and are encouraging people to
move there, which will be a bonus for China, to be sure. China has announced that they are
starting a One Child Policy, in which they provide full benefits like Free Education, HealthCare,
and such for the First Child in a family, but not for the subsequent Children. This is being done
to decrease the population, say Chinese officials. The 2 nuclear devices that China found have
been destroyed, but this for real. Last time was a fake, or so the WNN discovered, only meant to
convined the Chinese, and in deed, International Population that China indeed now has No
nukes. China has destroyed these 2 for good now, but do they have any more? In China-
occupied Tibet, many things are happening. First, some bridges in Tibet were mysteriously
destroyed by explosives, which is odd because the India-China war is over with. China officials
refused comment, but this might be the first sign of a fresh battle between India and China.
Also, in Tibet, China has begun to re-surrect the Tibetan Culture, by rebuilding Tibetan Temples
and places of worship that were damaged or destroyed. This is very good news for the Tibetans,
and might signal that China might be considering letting Tibet become a free nation once again.

Attacks subside in South Africa, South Africa annexed Kenya!

In South Africa, the attacks by the Rebels have began to subside, as the powerful South African
Military gains control, and successfully roots out most of the Rebels. South Africa is still facing
resistance, but less so then before. This has caused an increase in stability in South Africa, and
the economies in those colonies to increase. South Africa has also totally annexed and
conquered yet another African nation - Kenya. This leave many wondering when or if South
Africa will stop conquering nations.

(-3,000 South African Troops)

Spain cracks down on North Africa, attacks Belgium

Spain has started cracking down on the resistance to their North African Colonies, being largely
successful. They have managed to stop much of the resistance, and have started a brutal
“convert or die” campaign. This has caused many of the local Africans to convert to
Christianity, hoping to be left alone if they start praying. They have learned that the powerful
and huge Spanish military cannot be defeated, so they have decided to live with Christainity, or
flee. Many millions have fled, taking their entire families with them. The Spanish effort has
been mostly successful, and these colonies are now more stable, and, with that stability, comes a
better economy. The one thing that is hampering the Spanish economy right now is the masive
Spanish military, and there crackdown on all non-Christians. And Spain has continued her
Manifest Destiny, by taking Greenland from the Danish, and trying to invade Belgium. Yes,
trying to invade Belgium. Normally, one might think that Spain would simply roll right over
Belgium, but not this time. Spain launched about 1/3 of their troops, and most of their tanks,
ships, and planes at this quiet peaceful nation, but they were met by a massive EU force of about
the same size. It was a bloody battle, and a long one, but not one that Spain won. Might this be
the Waterloo for Franco? Anyway, the battle started by a massive push by Spanish forces, a
massive air strike by Spanish planes, and, well, it didn’t go as planned. The EU somehow found
out about this operation, and were ready and wiling to meet the Spanish. Throughout the day,
massive Air, Sea, and land battles took place, with massive casualties, and, well, not much else.
It was essentially a stalled battle, but it did show the effectiveness, and superiority of the Adnan-
E tanks. The Adnan-E’s are probably what saved Belgium, many were lost, but they slaughtered
the Spanish tanks, and Infantry. Nonetheless, Spain has more troops, Planes, and Ships, and it is
Spain who will likely win this very deadly fight, as they have, well, simply more of everything.
Belgium is very, very heavily bombed from the Spanish Bombers, in fact, few areas of this small
country are untouched. In other Spanish news, Spain has invaded, and annexed about half of
Austria, and strong Austrian Resistance is keeping them from annexing the entirety of Austria,
yet. Spain has also expanded her holdings in Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and it starting to meet
organized resistance there.

Pope collects Christian Intellectuals, continues “purifying” Europe”

The Pope has announced that he is attracting all Christian Intellectuals, Engineers, Scientists,
etc. to Spain so that Spain might be able to rid herself of the pollution. Few have heeded the
call, but those that have are helping His Holiness create an intellectual class to find a way to get
rid of the nuclear Pollution faster. His Holiness is also leading the campaign against non-
Christains in Spain, and Spanish Colonies, killing many non-Christians in Spain with his Mobs
of people, and in North Africa.

An Update on the Nuclear Pollution

Top Scientists are saying that most of the pollution from the smaller nuclear Blast has receded,
leaving only the Pollution from the larger, multiple Nuclear Blasts. Scientists cannot explain
why the pollution from those bigger blasts is not going away fast, and it seems to even be
expanding in some areas. Regarding the Nuclear Pollution coming down from the Atmosphere,
Scientists say that the last of it has come down, along with tons of dust, and dirt that was also
thrown up. In fact, they have announced that the Earth’s temperature has risen by 4 degrees,
which is quite a lot. They are worried about Global warming, and are checking the Ice Caps at
both poles. Meantime, more nuclear Weapons that are quite destroyed have been found in many
nations, including China, India, the USA, USSR, and Finland. These weapons are undetonated,
and they probably cannot be detonated, but present a danger nonetheless.

Bonuses (From stories, etc. Does not include most nations bonus eco level)

Nigeria - +1 eco
Norway - +1 eco
Commonwealth Union - +2 eco
South Africa - +1 eco, + Stability and eco levels in colonies
Malaysia - +2 eco
Argentina - +1 eco
India - +3 eco
Spain - +1 eco, + Stability and
Pope - +1 eco

NOTE - Yes, I am getting less generous on bonus eco and such, but there were far fewer stories
this time, kinda disappointing, but meh, everyone has school and such, eh?

The map is coming, CFC is just being very slow ATM. I would like some feedback about my updates, are they ok, any suggestions for improvment, etc.
