GoobNES01: Fallout - Update 5 Straight from Nuclear War to Conventional War . . .
World Weekly News - July 18th, 1965
Massive European War, Spain finally defeated in battle!
Everybody knew it was coming, but nobody could guess at the magnitude of the fighting. What
we have seen are massive pitched battles between the combined force of the European union,
and the Spanish Empire. Massive battles between the seasoned Spanish Forces, and the
relatively green EU Troops occurred, with the European Union coming out the victor. They had
managed to make massive purchases of arms from South Africa, and had them delivered in time.
The new South Africa units are truly very impressive, and where basically what led the EU to
victory. The place where the Spanish triumphed was at sea, the EU managed to build more
naval units, but they were still punished by the Spanish Fleet. First, we start with the land battle.
Both sides were about evenly matched for troops, but the real advantage was to the EU. They
had at least twice as many tanks as the Spanish, and they had hundreds of the new Elephant main
Battle Tank. These are truly awe-inspiring machines, big, powerful, and, well, destructive.
They ripped through the Spanish lines, incurring losses from the traps that the Spanish had set
up, but still causing massive casualties to the Spanish tanks and infantry. In the air, it was more
of the same. The EU Air Force, which was vastly superior to that of the Spanish forces, has
essentially wiped out a lot of the Spanish forces. Massive air battles took place, but, at the end
of the day, Spain had lost terribly in the air, and the EU has Air Superiority. Some very exciting
Air battles took place, in which the superiority of the Eagle Fighter was clearly seen, as it
downed one after another of the Spanish Air Force. When all was said and done, the Spanish
military is not retreating on land, and the EU forces have saved Belgium, although Belgium still
got very heavily bombed, and are pushing their way into Spanish-occupied France and Germany,
although the going is slow. Spain did manage to send in Special Forces to destroy some of the
dams and dykes in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark, which has caused some fairly
severe, but controllable, flooding in those nations. The Spanish attempt to destroy EU planes in
Austria was a failure, as the EU forces quickly caught onto the plan, and stopped the Special
Forces. For the Naval war, it was a tie, essentially. Both sides lost some ships, but no clear
victor was found. The EU Navy was able to ensure that shipments of supplies from South Africa
were able to get to the EU, though. The EU has also been spreading propaganda throughout
Spain, and that, coupled with the news that Spain might finally be losing, has caused thousands
of people in Spanish-occupied France and Italy to start rioting, and rebelling, and demanding
freedom. These protests seem quite random, but it is likely that they are being planned by
greater forces. This has cause Spain to become less stable. Protests were also heard in Ireland
and Iceland.

2 Nukes mysteriously exploded
No one knows how or why, or even what happened, but mysteriously, 2 Nuclear Bombs
exploded in Cape Town, and the Gulf of Ton King, on the border between North and South
Vietnam. These were obviously delivered by ship, or a submarine, but it is not known from
which country, as nothing of the vessel that delivered these Nukes remains. About 350,000
thousand people are estimated to have died.
Nigeria takes Equatorial Guinea!
In a totally unexpected and unprovoked move, Nigeria has moved into and annexed the formerly
Spanish colony of Equatorial Guinea! They steam rolled in, with many more troops then the
out-matched Spanish, with the Nigerian tanks and infantry mowing down many Spanish soldiers.
Nonetheless, the Spanish troops fought bravely, but were outmatched. The Nigerians did take
about 2,000 Spanish troops prisoner, and it is unknown of their fate. This seems to be just
another move in the Nigerian desire to re-united the African people, whether by force or peace.

Thailand no more! Attacked by Malaysia and the NKE.
Thailand is no more! It has been attacked and invaded by both Malaysia and the NKE. While
we do not know exactly what happened, recall that Thailand had bought 3 nuclear Weapons
from Australia, we do know that either Malaysian or NKE Special Forces, probably Malaysian,
were able to infiltrate into Thailand, and render 2 of their 3 Nuclear Weapons useless, through
sabotage. They are probably now being dismantled. But, the third, meanwhile, was detonated.
Again, we do not know exactly what happened, but it is likely that the Thai forces guarding it
entered a firefight with the troops trying to neutralize it, and it somehow got set off. Also, the
Thai Dictator was assassinated, which threw the nation into chaos. Then, the NKE and
Malaysian armies were able to march into most of the country, and annex it. The legal Heir to
the throne of Thailand has been calling for the NKE and Malaysia to save my country, then help
me rebuilt it, and retain my rightful place as leader of Thailand Whether this occurs, nobody
can tell, it is up to Malaysia and the NKE if they wish to give up their newly gained spoils of
war. In somewhat related news, Laos and Cambodia have slipped into complete anarchy, the
remaining part of Thailand, that is.

China expands both North and South, Revolution in the USSR!!!
China has sent her armies in both North and South directions, in the North, China has connected
her Siberian colony to her Manchurian province, meeting very little Soviet Resistance. In the
South, China took her massive army, and swept up most of Laos. China did not get all of Laos,
because, when some areas of Laos heard that the Communist Chinese were invading, they asked
for, and were allowed to, join the NKE. We have yet to heard any word from inside Laos as to
how China is treating the Laotians. Meanwhile, in the USSR, major events are occurring. There
has been a coup detat, and a Commissar in the old Soviet Red Army has overthrown the
Democratic Government. Most Soviets were having troubles adjusting to life under the new
Democratic Regime, especially since the leader was so reclusive. But, probably with some
Chinese backing, the USSR is now a Communist state once again. Their leader, General
Secretary Andreyev, is promising a bright new Communist future for the USSR, and to make
Communism a force on the world stage, and bring the prophecies of the Communist Manifesto
to reality! Very little resistance was felt by the Commissar, as he took over, and he is quickly
gaining control of the USSR, all of it. Most Soviets are relieved that the Communists are in
control again, for life under the democratic Government was hectic, and life under the
Communists is now much better, things are returning to some semblance of normalcy. The
order to attack China has obviously been rescinded, and, with so few troops sent to attack China,
it wouldnt have gone anywhere any ways. China has started rebuilding the Nuked cities of
Chengde, Nantong, Jinan and Shantou, but more time and eco need to be invested to properly
finish that rebuilding. Furthermore, China has allowed the Dalai Lama to be the autonomous
leader of Tibet, so the Dalai Lama is now back in Tibet, and is encouraging all Tibetans all over
the world to return to Tibet. Many have heeded his call, and our reporters are saying that China
is helping the Dalai Lama make Tibet into what it once was, and is improving the standard of
living and such there. China is also starting to try and crack down on the corruption within the
Communist Government, but it will be a difficult job, as Corruption is usually how things work
in China. Still, these efforts are starting to pay off.
(-2,000 Chinese troops, -3,000 USSR Troops)
OOC - raistlin, you can still be the USSR if you want. Changing from a Totalitarian Communist
state to a Democratic nation is not really realistic, which is why it was so seemingly easy for the Commies to take over again.
Mexican Government overthrown, new Communist Government elected!
In Mexico, big things are happening. The previous Totalitarian Government, which was
essentially Fascist, has been overthrown! Mexico had been suffering from Communist
insurgencies in the South, and Democratic ones in the North, but this news had not been leaked
to the public. In fact, no one really knew much about Mexico previously, as the Regime there
was very tightlipped, and did not allow Journalists into the country, or even anyone to enter or
leave the country. What was going on inside the country is that Mexicans were so fed up with
the current regime that they started to resist, and the Government was powerless to stop this. In
fact, most of the soldiers in Mexicos previously large but poorly-fed, paid, and trained army
simply started to give up. This basically meant that when the Communist and Democratic forces
came to Mexico City, they faced little opposition, except from loyalists of the Dictator. But,
with help from the USA, the old Regime has gone. Elections, monitored by Inuit and Malaysian
Election Observers oversaw an Election there, and both nations have stated that this was a fairly
free and fair election. The Communists won the election by a fairly wide margin, promising a
bright new Communist future for Mexico, and pledging to ensure that Mexico does not
become the 52nd State, referring to the USA, of course. Also, the Chairman of China, Peng, made
a surprise visit to Mexico, and held several large rallies in which he spoke of the glories of
Communism, and peace, bread, and prosperity for all. This is being accredited to have won
the election for the Communist party. The country will require quite a bit of assistance from
outside nations, probably China and the USA to fix its crumbling infrastructure, and its abysmal
living conditions. Many thousands of Mexicans are trying to flee to the USA, and this threatens
to turn into tens or hundreds of thousands if something is not done.

USA ICBMs lay waste to Barcelona, Papal Apartments!
In a relatively surprising, but hardly unexpected attack, the USA launched 2 conventional, that
is, non-Nuclear tipped Atlas ICBMs at the city of Barcelona, Spain. The city is utterly
destroyed. While the ICBMs did not have Nukes in them, they had tons of High Explosives,
which, combined with the fuel left in them, multiplied by 2, took out parts of Barcelona, and
some of the surrounding area. The Papal Apartments are gone, literally, and we have no word
on His Holiness the Pope. His Holiness was very sick at the time, and very likely in his
compound. He is presumed dead, but, like we said, we have no confirmations. Barcelona is
badly hit, but still roughly 60% intact, and can be rebuilt easily. The USA did sent their Navy
out to hunt down the Spanish Navy, but they did not arrive in time, as most of the USA navy was
in the Pacific Ocean.
CU Colonies vote to remain in CU
The Commonwealth Union Colonies of Qatar, Guinea-Bissau, and The Gambia have all voted to
remain in the Commonwealth union for the time being, the FOR vote was 62, 54, and 60%
respectively. In an odd twist of fate, India has annexed Qatar from the CU, just as Qatar voted to remain part of the CU.
Argentina on the brink of discovering new type of fuel!
Argentinian Scientists say that they are on the brink of developing a new type of Hydrocarbon
fuel. It is unclear if this is a synthetic or naturally produced Hydrocarbon fuel, but, if this
develops the way that Argentinian Scientists say it does, it could revolutionize the world. It is
also unclear if this fuel can be used for petrol in regular internal combustion engines.
