OOC: Welcome to CFC and in this nes, but are you sure that you want to take Denmark? your reign might be a real short one there with those powerfull players around you, the Middle east on the other hand is pretty much free (Turkey, Iran) and would allow you some expansion and prosperity (controlling the oil there).

oh and denmark (along with the rest of the EU) owns me lots of money and the deal was that as soon as hostilities with spain stopped you would pay me back, if you chose to take Denmark i will still expect you to pay it up.

(1) I realise that--like Patton's--my flame of power might burn out quickly. I am still up to having as much fun as possible. :)

(2) As to your payment...the check's in the mail! Hônnete!

Backstory soon.....Je promets.

COPENHAGEN BURNS!

The isle of Sjaelland, on which the capital of Copenhagen is found, was destroyed as the result of a massive fire thought to be started when former Crown Prince Frederik Margrethe took control of the (formerly Royal) Danish Army and attempted to destroy the House of Parliament, which had recently voted to dissolve the monarchaic system following the death of Queen Margrethe II, which effectively destroyed the future of heir apparent Frederik.

Sadly, the government of the Republic of Denmark was effectively destroyed in the blaze, and in the ensuing confusion hundreds of thousands of Danes died, not to mention literally hundreds of various mom-and-pop bakeries. In addition, much of the military infrastructure (esp. communication) was destroyed and as such the military's possible help in stopping the panic and looting is precisely nil. The fire on the island itself is contained because of the physical geography; that is, being surrounded by water. Water, you see, stops fire.

The Copenhagen Airport Internationale was destroyed in the fire, and all diplomats who did not travel by boat from neighbouring countries have sadly died. No funeral is planned in the near future, but a moment of silence is requested in all nations at 2000 GMT, 24/12.

To sum up, all but 3 1 member of parliament were killed*, all party leaders, the Supreme Court, all upper-echelon military staff, most diplomats, et alli. All military units not based in or around Sjaelland Isle are unable to communicate with the now-decimated military commanders, and as such have pretty much rebelled in their respective regions, causing multiple fires throughout Denmark, which as of now are of an indefinable size. All vessels of the Danish Navy who were able to immediately left the fiery inferno of Sjaelland for friendly ports.

A state of martial law has been declared throughout the Republic of Denmark, and it seems anarchy has arisen. The military is unable to regain control, and it is likely that all military bases and ports will be lost within 12 hours. The treasury, which was in Copenhagen, has been lost. However, before it was destroyed, it was revealed that Crown Prince Frederik had ordered its entirety--over DDK6,000,000,000 (~US$910,000,000)--to his summer palace outside of Esbjerg, on the North Sea. It was sent by ship, which was sunk by Royal Navy submarines this morning. For fear of "liberation" by a fellow country, the location of the shipwreck (and thus, the money) will not be revealed.

(added)
[All armories were lost to looters, and both the SPP (Socialist Peoples' Party) and the CPP (Christian Peoples' Party) are said to have recruited followers and seized sizable amounts of weaponry. It appears that a civil war has begun, and all information received is second-hand and unreliable.]

* - Three MP's who were not killed: both MP's from Greenland, and one from Faroe Islands. So, yes, all MP's representing what is normally referred to as Denmark have died. (OOC: It has just come to my attention that Greenland has been liberated by Spain.) IC: All but one MP has died.

The Danes I represent are those that reject both the SPP and CPP...we are but a dwindling population is the maelström of Denmark, post-Great Copenhagen Fire.

We sincerely thank you for your diplomatic support, and would happily extend the same courtesy you extend us if we are able to help in any way. (Without needlessly further endangering the lives of our citizens inhabitants, that is.)

To: Red Masque and whoever is the rightful rulers of Denmark
From: Japan

Japan is willing to send humanitarian AID And peacekeeping troops if oyu wish.

To Japan
From Denmark

We appreciate your support, but at this time it is apparent that any troops you send (peacekeeping or otherwise) will likely be killed by the raging inferno that is spreading across Denmark (and thus, across Europe) faster than previously estimated.

Furthermore, there is nothing to insure that any humanitarian aid you send will not fall into the hands of those Danes who wish the violence to continue; I speak of course of the SPP and CPP and their respective followers.

CER recognizes the Socialist Party of Denmark as the rightful government and urges the nations of the world to send no aid to the imposter who is responsible for this disaster that is occuring in Denmark

It has been revealed that the SPP had the support of Crown Prince Frederik, and that SPP chairman Mogens Lykketoft had arranged for 30% (~US$300,000,000) of the stolen treasury money to benefit the SPP's plan for the violent overthrow of the government of the Republic of Denmark.

To CER, et al.
From Denmark

Denmark rejects the implication that it is not the rightful leader of Denmark. Such is ludacris! Furthermore, the Denmark I represent is working towards peace and order, not the violence and mayham advocated by the SPP and the CPP. This delegation implores fellow nations to reject both the SPP and CPP and instead support a return to the democratic institutions of before.

To Denmark:
Prince Frederik and the SPP leaders are leaders of Denmark and your attempt at a coup d'etat should not trick the rest of the nations.

To the EU
the RSA proposes that the EU sends his armed forces in Denmark to restore order and the Rightfull government of Denmark, after all Denmark is a EU member and thus the EU has not only the right, but also the DUTY to protect his mebers from coup detat's

To Norway
From Denmark

Invade Denmark? This country is on fire, mon ami. If you feel that sending troops into a forest fire the size of....Denmark, do so! But somehow I do not think your citizens and soldiers will be thankful for such a rash action.

To CER, et al.
From Denmark

Crown Prince Frederik is not--repeat, not--the leader of the Republic of Denmark. Denmark's Parliament legally dissolved the throne, and Denmark is no longer a constitutional monarchy, it is a democracy. Furthermore, the SPP and CPP are not interested in the peaceful rebuilding of Denmark; they only wish its further destruction so they can turn Denmark into a totalitarian state. Such blatent anti-democratic actions will not allow the world to prosper; it will wither, as a dead rose. Once stunning, now dead.

To RSA, EU, et al.
From Denmark

We agree that the EU should have some role, but with the fact that most of the country is on fire does present some difficulties. First and foremost, the international community (or a majority therein) must come to a consensus as to whether or not supporting violent rebels such as the SPP or the CPP will be best for the long-term interests of all involved. This Dane is of the opinion it is not.

To Denmark:
CER does not recognise the disolution of the Monarchy, and will support the rightful Prince of Denmark. Also, if your government takes away citizenship rights from its own people that fast, then your citizens need to be protected from your government. By Russia.

To CER, et al.
From Denmark

You misunderstand! By calling violent revolutionaries such as the SPP and the CPP "not true citizens," I implied that they were not interested in the peaceful restoration of Denmark. Furthermore, as per the Constitution of the Republic of Denmark, they could be tried for their treasonous acts. The honourable delegate from the CER is correct, however, that as of now they are still citizens of the Republic of Denmark, and entitled to all benefits therein. However, Denmark has invoked a state of martial law throughout its borders, and thus the military has the only authority. I have spoken with military leaders and have managed to regain control of a sizeable amount of armed forces. (Full stats. coming soon.)

(added)
[Denmark is truly sorry that the honourable delegation from the CER rejects the new (if short-lived) democratic status of the Republic of Denmark. Would it be incorrect to ask if the CER rejects democracy as an institution?]

OOC:

To simplify things, I am now a delegation from the FFD, or the Free Forces of Denmark. This is more accurate, as well, seeing as how there isn't much government infrastructure left [to represent]. The FFD represents both military and civilian Danes. The FFD's charter will be posted soon, but for now...

IC:

The FFD believes in the peaceful return to the Republic of Denmark, and will follow all treaties, laws, and the Constitution of the Republic of Denmark before martial law was enacted (to the best of its ability). Simply put, the FFD is the Republic of Denmark until democratic Denmark is restored.

Red Masque
Rep, FFD

To Denmark:
Your FFD illegally deposed the rightful government of Denmark and then promises to return to it. We are not convinced.
