Cache doesnt matter much. Unless its a difference between something like 4mb and 12mb.
And both processors are based on the same die -- some of the dies could handle the Q8300 speeds, and so they became Q8300's. The rest became Q8200's. This means they are the same processor, one is just a bit faster. But the difference in speed isnt worth the extra cost.

Why does 12mb matter and not 4mb? Would 8mb be quite different to 4mb (I saw a 2x4mb cache).

Because if you get a 12mb L2 cache processor, its also very likely quite a bit more powerful than the 4mb L2 cache one.

Its not something you need to worry about though.
