From what I've read, they're now bundling the information from the various google services together, so that they can draw relationships between your searches, video views, etc, and better focus their advertising towards you. Before, your YouTube home page would have only reflected data you gave YouTube -- the videos you watched, the accounts you subscribed to, the people you friended. Now if you do a lot of searches for a particular PC game through Google proper, YouTube might start recommending LP's and you'd see PC-game-related ads in Gmail, even if none of the inbox mail is gaming-related. Facebook has made me rather cautious about sharing info online, so I dumped my history before the change went into effect.
