We're all Civ fanatics here (so says the forum name) so why don't we try something out...

We play a couple games of Civilization. Those who believe in Pacifism, play as a pacifist nation! No war, no matter what! Those who believe in warrior nations, go to war! Let's let video games decide the debate once and for all, as things should be decided.

God, imagine if every time we went to war both sides fought it out through Civilization games? LoL, what a world...

Is this some sort of argument justifying the slaughter of millions of civilians in various wars? Because, believe it or not, most of those wars were started to further the interests of the starter.

No, North King, this is mainly tongue-in-cheek, but it makes a bit of a point as well.

I once played a Civ III game against a liberal bud of mine after the Iraq invasion. He was one of the "it's all for oil" crew. Well, about half way through the game he realizes "Doh, I don't have any oil!" But there's Japan, and guess what? It DOES! So he invades. I laughed and asked him how he felt "pulling a Bush." He thought it was funny and we both agreed that video games are NOT like life, but it was a funny juxtaposition.

Well certainly the warrior nations couldn't go to war against the pacifists or that would result in a rule violation. So while the warriors struggle amonst themselves the pacifists spread out like blobs and consume all the land.

In regard to Perfection's post: Look at my signature.

And then for every war there would need to be the uncaring isolationist state. Perfection and I would have an alliance of course, and the tendrils of love will choke out any warlike feelings that you may possess.

(Shameless promotion I know, but nonetheless I feel that this is all a game)

How do you play a proxy war with a proxy state in civ?

I... don't really see what point it makes.

And being very early in the morning for me makes me humorless. :p

Except Bush would never admit going to war for oil.

But he didn't. And that's the truth. Bush would never admit to something that false like that. He is too honest.

Would CFC anarchists constantly hit the revolution button?

Man I miss Civ must be a couple of months since I played on line, but I'm limiting myself untill my course is finished, last time I got addicted to C3c and let the course slide:( In CIV I've seen someone with no oil in a modern scenario take out two people with oil and the other challenger without, masterfully done, while the two with oil were at each others throats the other two were biding there time waiting to clean up the aftermath? CIV is great all my aggressive fantasies are relieved in a game. Epic games are best for peacefull and warlike play combined, especially when you set no war till 0 AD and the like, that way you build form aliances and can avoid war entirely if that is your style.
