Welcome, fellow civ players, you may call me Nicosar. I have arranged a scenario, though it is actually an advanced version of the regular game, from warriors to stealth bombers, in which I invite those who seek a true challenge in this, the ultimate game of strategy, to participate. No children here, this will be a hard game, not so serious in mood as in the actual competition, but if you are not a player whose mind considers all and weighs all options to a nicety, who thinks always 50 moves ahead of his current position and prefferes cunning subtrefuge instead of obvious force then you may still play, if you succeed in fooling the others that you are worthy, but you will not live long enough to hear even a gunblast, lest it be aimed at you.
The map, thanks to a utility, is about 30000 sq.'s in depth, custom made in such a way as to resemble the upmost realism but also to conceal the overall geography from the mapmaker himself, who sees no honor in having such an advantage, with entire barbarian kingdoms and camps, large and small, and a topography that will inspire diversity in the layout of cities, as opposed to grid-like empires with rows of conveniently planned-out cities.
The units have been supplemented by 13 new units, two old ones that served relatively little strategic purpose having been removed, and all units old units have been revised in some way to enhance the game as much as is possible without utterly rearranging the basic structure of the gameplay or rewriting the actual programming. The new units have been divided into the four ages to equally enrich the game throughout its entire length, but with special attention paid to modern times, the age which lasts the longest and which demands the widest array of tactics.
Science is slowed appropriately, the general price of everything set to a higher level but crafted to give strategic meaning to the various price differences, the abilities of settlers and engineers slowed to make terrain improvements lengthier to complete, and modern boat movement stapled slightly to maintain more realism along with similar minor changes involving other unit movement rates, all because every good player has at some point built a menacing army of legion, knights and catapults to become obsolete by the senseless pace of the standard game en route to enemy land, arriving on distant shores where newly aquired, cheaply and quickly built, musketeers simply fodderize them all.
Being inveterately aware of all civ concepts, the entire game has been designed to nurture gameplay and leave you in the end with a feeling that Sid Meyer released only a great concept of a game, but that the game itself was only good enough. But even more so, and above all other reasons, the game has been given variety and fullness so that I can enjoy, choosing from a myriad of new and different ways, the method by which I crush my enemies.
Do you want to know more details? Perhaps you are curious as to what the new units are, or what graphical changes have been made, or maybe even some specific numbers? Yes?...
TOO BAD! SURETY YOU CRAVE, BUT NICOSAR GIVES NONE... IF YOU ARE FAITHLESS AFTER ALL I HAVE SAID THEN YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND CIViLIZATION IN FULL AND I DO NOT DESIRE YOUR WEAKNESS AMONG THE TABLE OF GREAT GENERALS!!!
All others, who are able to sense my skill, come forth and heed the call which only you, the true professionals, can answer, for I am tired of squallid games with undesicive fools and losers, all of whom would rather sit and build their perfect little empires against an impotent computer or equally weak foes, unable to sit through a game and sweat it out on the edge of a knife the entire time, where risk is the most powerful strategy.
Do not bother me unless you are serious, but especially not if you are incapable.
