got dsl, wanna host full game, super map(30000 sq.) everything optimized by expert

You want us to play for 6 or 7 hours straight? I have done it before but I find most everyone plays better in 3 or 4 hour intervals. If everyone moves efficiently and does their city management and negotiation between turns we should be able to make good progress if we play 4 hours twice a week. I can also make it, besides on the weekends, some evenings during the week (I'm EST, GMT -5 I believe).
 
NO, no, friend, not for such long intervals, in fact maybe even shorter, considerably shorter, than the times you proposed, but more frequently.you see, if I have seven people telling me they're free on the weekend in the evening I can set a start time and MAYBE they will show, but if I know what time they get back from work on monday through friday and what they do the rest of the time then I could plot such a comfortable schedule as to give everyone enough time to relax after coming home or whatever and then play a decent two, maybe three hours every two or three days, maybe even every other day sometimes, if everyone is enjoying themselves and requests it, and EVERYone will show!! it sounds too good to work but i'm excellent with numbers and all I need is a few to make more, if you follow me. seek the wisdom of trust, if you will, and divulge me some better information, and hopefully seeing you the others will gladly follow, and I won't have to badger everyone to try and make agreeable start dates. After all, here in the west coast compared to your zone differs but a little, but a few hours in the evening of our weekend maybe too late or too early for one of our comrades living half-way around the world in Australia! Would'nt you rather make a group effort to colaborate on a schedule than keep the poor man up half the night before a workday because we were too stupid to do otherwise. Let us help each other; tell me narz, do you have a job?
 
I got a job of course, I gotta live, I'm only working part-time now though and I don't sleep much :) I wish you luck with your stuggle to get seven strong players from all corners together. I am pretty flexable so you can count me in, you may have to settle for five or six players, take it from me, its better to have only four or five dedicated players than seven unreliable ones. Good luck! Keep me updated.

I like Narz. Realistically though, he was quite unhelpful in terms of what I had in mind. You, though, my good doctor, are fukking beaaauuuuuutiful!

Wait a seconnnddddd....government...spiritualness... MUSHROOMS!!? Where in the hell is Australia, I thought it was on this planet!! No, I know my fantasies are running wild but those philocybin dreams never fade...

I just wanted to inform everyone that, as I have told a couple players, my schedule is totally flexible due to acozy living situation (basically, good comfort, low maintenance, physically and financially) and though I like to indulge in many activities civ takes precedence for me (especially since my neighbor moved away; he had the best sticky cheeba in the west coast...but those days are gone now...). your schedules are the only matter of importance. If Narz had given me a simple routine layout as our esteemed colleague the political medic has done then there would only be 4 left to go, and if I had them by tomorrow, we could be begin the greatest civ game ever designed (which will become the greatest ever to be played) tomorrow as well. It's that simple.

But I still don't have your e-mail, Dr. "liberty caps" Eamer, and the members list didn't have it. Do you have ICQ, that's far more efficient than communicating through this forum IF we're both on at the same time, othewise this is better... just go to ICQ. com or something (you'll find it), and dowload a very frugal program which asks you to connect to it when your computer starts. This is sort of a pain, because if you agree to connect, it doesn't connect to the internet for you, and so the program stays offline, and therefore useless, until you do; I just say no at the beginning so I can log on to the web first and then click the icon on my desktop and its all smooth from there.
 
Also, just in case anybody wasn't informed earlier, I'll make it official now; the game is civ II gold v1.3 (the patch you can get from the dowloads sight; which fixes every dammed problem except the important ones, but I guess those lumps sid meyers got working with him, or maybe even the old coot himself, don't think them to be problems, but I could name a few),and you don't have to worry about the utility I used to make the map since I already took care of that. There will be 4 pages of units, 4 pages of techs, (trust me, you'll figure it out without them but they're invaluable, nevertheless) and a few pages outlining all the game changes and the honor code. Honor code? HUh? relax. you'll know more than you want to soon enough. Just give me your e-mails and theyll be yours. I actually have them ready but didn't scan them in yet, and the scanner needs to be plugged in and booted and so forth, a highly annoying technical arduousness I do not desire to undertake at these forsaken hours, so tomorrow morning the first two of you that are listed in my mail program will get them, though before I do that I will post an explanation right here to deal with those curious items...

Narz may've never played a full game with such a beauftiful orchestra of synchronization and willingness and honorable sportsmanship as I have, but they exist, and its quite an experience. Everyone just hold together and we'll be there soon. 7 players? thats nothing! Can you imagine when civ 3 multiplayer comes out? Crazy bastards trying to hook up 16 people to one board. If someone ever accomplishes even a minute's worth of gametime on that scale I will be in awe.

Sorry Narz, some of your words are wolves and I must protect my herd. By the way man, what times during the week do you work? We'll figure this all out, it really is not that hard, and once you get all the times down and you a post an unchangeable start time you'll see that people will take comfort in its convenience, engineered just for them, and suddenly you're fighting epic battles.

About your e-mail doctor, (sincorp really is the most fitting name for a corporation, by the way) I must have got it from some thread on one of my searches, (I did come to you, didn't I?hmmm...) What is trillian? I heard that name before; someone said it was an 'aryan ICQ' cause it was superior, they were joking of course. I just woke up and decided to check this site, even though its late (it may be 9.00 where youre at but here it be almost dawn... in the bush, the hairy...philocygina,...-gynic bush.
Sorry doctor, but I did not include any mushroom warriors, and so there's no way to gauge a civ in the tweakometer, but have you ever noticed how the very bottom left of the civ chart is where sid crammed all the trippy shet? and its all ancient;, there should be a modern science called joes garage where you could build the greatest wonder of all, the INTERNET! the place where a million tweaks converge and talk about nothing, and collectively diminish the army volunteer rate to 0 but put virus in all enemy civs comps so their airlifts land in your area and you tak their forces... Im really hungry actually, youll not hear this bullshet from nicosar too often...nop! just a FLUKE. woke, pissed, roamed in darkness, hit me head then thought, what could my international posse of tweaks be up to, and DAMN! As you have deemed me first alternate, I am going to assume (yes, make an ass of u and me) that you may want my information as well. It is ALL in my profile. As to my availablity, it is as follows:

The reasons for this schedule are employment and, on tuesday and thursday, meetings of a personal nature that I MUST attend. I am waiting for one to fall prior to start-up, and will follow this thread until all hope is lost, as I am still eager to test my mettle in this game!
 
I am avialable every night from 1am - 2:30am EST.
I will probably be avaialable most weeknights as well (once in awhile I have to work 4pm-midnight). In the chance that I won't be avaialable until after midnight, I will be able to let you know two or three days in advance.

My weekends are genrally not too exciting :D so if I know the Civ schedule far in advance I can probably arrange to play most times everyone is willing to agree on. The only thing is, I have my own tourny from 1pm-4pm (EST) on Sunday's, other than that, most other things can be planned around, I never work on the weekends.

Morning is not genrally good for me, but being that you West Coasters are three hours earlier than me, that shouldn't be a problem, right?

When I get a gist of the schedule you all purpose I can be a bit more specific about what is good for me and what is not.

I will be out most of today, I got alot to do today, but I will check this thread this evening in the off chance that this show'll be getting on the road by tomorrow. I look forward to this challange, I have played some strong players in my time (usually 1 on 1 with 5 AI's) but I've never had the privledge to get a whole group of them together like this. I hope you're as good as you crack yourself up to be Nicosar! :)

There are two other players indeed, Mr. Walker, the second after me and Mr. Sopoc the fifth, eamer coming after him, and then Narz the last, (but not least, good fellow)

Here's the thing though, Mr. sopoc has been unrespondant as of late...time will tell, and Walker has not written back since almost 10 days ago. He'll show, but in the end there may be a slot left over... you were either wise or overly optimistic in sticking around newbyman, well see though

I saw in the other thread that Flatlander Fox is one of the other players. So that makes two that I have other games with :). Perhaps I will get lucky enough to play them both in the same game, Narz being the other. Still hangin' on...... :D
 
No. My mistake. Mr Sopoc was briefly engaged but has long been uncounted as one of the seven. I thought it was him out of forgetfulness for the true contestant, Flatlander Fox, who left only one notice offering his skills in my other thread, which has long been neglected by everyone.

I have the schedules from the doctor, Narz, and even the vulture circling us as we speak for any carcasses, general private, but Dday, gojeero, Mr. Walker and flatlander fox have yet to even notice us of their continued existence, if it has not sadly ended just before the tournament.

I appreciate you telling me upfront, Narz, about your 'tourney', no doubt so that I would take heart upon it and schedule around it, and though I have received but two (relevant) schedules, yours is so far the most limiting, giving only a 1 and 1/2 hour slot for the whole week (except weekends, fortunately) . Of course there may be nothing you could do about that, but....is your week really that busy that you only have less than two hours for yourself at the end of the day or is that your suggested time for the game's two hours to fit in. Perhaps if you could give me maybe just a couple more two hours slots throughtout the day it would make a tremendous difference, since I really do want you to participate but, not having to impose your duties, but if you just give that short a timespan to work with I would most certainly have to intrude upon the affairs of another, and the point of all this is to accomadate everyone...

It's tough being the foreman, but you all may not realize how great a worth it is to sacrifice just a little bit for this grand tournament. When you step onto the gameboard, I promise you, you will feel as though it is a brand new game, and not just because of the enhanced graphics, the whole new atmosphere of gameplay I've constructed is quite beautiful, and you will feel it.
 
Hey newby, you still on? if you know some of these people and you get a hold of them somehow or come across a recent posting of theirs on another thread tell them nicosar wants them.
