GOTM-07: Saves available



This game MUST be played in patch version 1.61. We will NOT accept any games played under any other patch versions.

Further, this game will have its assets protected, so your custom mods won't work. I will investigate with the HOF staff about releasing a version of the save that supports the HOF mod, however.

Game settings:
Civilization: Arabia (Leader: Saladin; Traits: Spiritual & Philosophical)
Rivals: 6 (Random)
Difficulty: Prince
Map: Pangea (Pressed coastline)
Mapsize: Standard
Climate: Tropical
Water level: Low
Starting Era: Ancient
Speed: Epic
Victory Conditions: all enabled

Unique unit: Camel Archer: Replaces knight, strength 10, move 2, cost = 135. Immune to first strikes, doesn't receive defensive bonuses, 25% withdrawl chance.

Unlike the knight, which needs iron & horses, this UU needs no resources. The 25% combat withdrawl chance is pretty powerful as well - almost like starting with both flanking one & two!

Adventurer Class bonuses:
  1. Extra units: Start with a scout & a worker.
  2. Extra technology: Start with agriculture.


Challenger Class Equalisers:
  1. Technology: Start without the wheel.
  2. Defense: Start without your warrior.

Contender and challenger headings at the page where the save are say GOTM6 still. The file they go to seems to be GOTM7 though - just the dressing (the headings) that wasn't changed?

Edited to get GOTM right GTOM/GOTM - sometimes I have my dyxlexic days...
 
If anyone has a problem with the save game then when you save it as "all files" instead of a "save game file" (which is the default) in windows 2000.

I have made this error twice :(

I feel the same way, almost makes me want to hold off some so that it isn't over too soon :crazyeye:
 
There are the 3 classes, listed with their bonuses etc. The save is right below each one.

Another question, will there be a save supporting the HoF mod?
 
Some firewalls and ad blockers seem to block those image links. We changed them for GOTM 03 to add text links for people with blockers, but the changes must have gone astray again since then. I've reinstated them in this game's release thread and we'll see if we can make them stick this time for future games.

No, there won't. This is a reference to possible implementation for future GOTMs. I think we can only release HOF-mod-compatible saves at the start of a game, or not at all for that game.
 
Does HoF mode change assets? If not I can play under it, right?
 
The start file doesn't refer to the mod so you will not be able to use it.
