Started in place. Built 3 or 4 cities then declared war on England. Took her out - actually the only player I completely defeated. While at war with her, China declared on me but never really attacked. I also made a huge blunder which surely cost me turns at the end of the game. I had a nice city between the two coppers SW of Athens and I foolishly left it lightly guarded while England was roaming with a chariot. I had plenty of units; I just totally forgot about that chariot and England razed the city. I did then rebuild on the spot and it became my best production city, but oh how I'd love to have all those turns of production back.

HC also attacked as I was nearing the end of the war with England and I was barely able to hold on, and then turn my troops on him. Managed to take Cuzco before getting peace, although that city was not worth much since it was surrounded culturally.

At this point I was behind in techs but managed to catch up by Electricity by trading with my only friend, Hatty. I declared war on China and took their lightly-held main island and then the long island to the west. By that time I had Infantry and Artillery and attacked HC and his pact-mate KK. It was tough to withstand his seemingly endless barrage of Cavalry and Artillery, but luckily he didn't know how to use them. Once his attack forces were gone, it was just a matter of time as I marched across the continent, sweeping everyone up with my dominant Mechanized Infantry.

I had half of the "new world" conquered when I hit the domination limit.

One odd thing in this game was that I was attacked by ICBMs, by KK and later Saladin. That rarely happens in my games. It certainly slowed me down and made me side-track with Bomb Shelters and the technology for SDI and fallout cleanup.

Thanks for the great game DS. When does the October GOTM come out?

Glad you enjoyed the game! For the October GOTM - check the forum threads - kcd_swede has already announced it - and this time it is actually starting on time - on October 1st. :)

Retired 1040

This game was hard for me, because I had absolutely no strategic ressources for the first 4400 years. I wasn't prepared that after no bronze, neither iron no horses would occur anywhere near the starting spot.

So I had to fight a war when England declared, with bows only against masses of chariots. Though I held all cities but one, that threw me back a lot.

In 1040 I have POP 47, 8 cities, are second in science and far back in military. England is reduced to three cities but still lives.
And I am still building libraries!

The game could probably be won, but I am not patient enough this month for the necessary grinding. ;-) So retired in 1040.
