GOTM 140 Spoiler

Here is the next portion of the log.

My goals for this portion were:
1) Continue Trade
2) 1 tech advance every turn
3) factories and Hoover Dam
4) Eliminate Carths

Here are the results:
1) 52 deliveries were made for 19171 gold. First +1000 gold delivery came in 1250. I think this went pretty well.
2) I missed on 5 of the 25 turns (1030, 1080, 1090, 1150 and 1230). 1080 and 1090 were a miscalculation when the government fell after I failed to withdraw from Carthage
3) 4 Factories came online in 1030. Hoover Dam was built in 1060. There were 12 factories in 1250
4) I reduced the Carths to one city in 1110. Decided it wasn't woth the effort (at this time) to subvert Utica.
4a) I captured Cardiff when the Celts made the mistake of stealing Metallurgy. Then I was able to get 3 more cities when the Aztecs offered an alliance in +1250.

How many cities did you have at this point? What was the tech cost? 4 advances is one turn on 50% science with only a small delivery bonus (436) seems like a lot.
 
Exactly. The box was almost full. I increased the science temporarily to achieve another discovery shortly before Darwin is built.

As you know Darwin gives you the tech you are currently researching and one more. If you are very close to achieving that tech all the arrows in your box go to waste so it pays to fine tune your tech rate and mix of scientists for the turn you are building Darwin.
 
Ali, what was left of the AI in your game (cities, wonders)? Nice job of building up score, we'll have to see if my earliness can make up for that.

Here is my final part, it has been so peaceful by me throughout the game until then, so I didn't want to start any war then. I kept calculating my "gap", the gold missing for my spaceship. That is gold I had minus 120 for each structure minus 200 for every freight that was missing to have 1 for each structure, 3 for each component and 6 for each module.

Ali, what was left of the AI in your game (cities, wonders)?
Celts grew aggressive at the end but were too technologically behind to be more than a nuisance. All I did to contain them was to build a fort at the choke point connecting my province of Khuzestan (4 cities) in the NW of their continent to them and build a stealth fighter which did not see much action. The northern part of their continent I choked off much earlier with a None rifleman but an explorer got through and walked into my only city there razing it. I built that city back but the rest of that area remained undeveloped. They never bothered settling their nearby islands. They had about 10 cities and 2 wonders at the end.

Egyptians spawned after the conquest of Aztecs on the small 3-tile island north of Aztecs. One city and no wonders.

Carthaginians were reduced to a single city in mid game and remained peaceful to the end. The city was on a small island near the South pole east of Persia. Their former cities, some with ancient wonders, became assimilated.

Indians had trouble early on with Celts and may not have survived without the advanced techs I kept gifting them. They built no more than 3 cities one of which was razed by Celts early on. They had 2 cities for most of the game all the way to the end. They never built any wonders.

Nice job of building up score, we'll have to see if my earliness can make up for that.
You launched in 1140 and I in 1540 which is 44 turns later. Since the GOTM score goes down by a little less than 2% per turn. My score has to be more than 2.3 times yours to compensate for that. My guess is that it will not be.
