After an 'epic' map last month, we take things down a notch or three this month.

Civilization: Aztecs (Militaristic, Religious, UU = Jaguar Warrior - 1/1/2)
Difficulty: Emperor.
Rivals: 5 Pre-selected.

World Age: 3 Billion years.
Climate: Arid.
Land Form: Continents.
Temperature: Warm.
Ocean: 80%
Map Size: Small.

Barbarians: None.

Conquest Bonuses:

1. Start with 20 gold.
2. Start with an extra worker.
3. Start with two bonus techs - alphabet & Bronze working.

Predator Equalisers:

1. Start with no techs!

How possibly "no techs" could help me???

Predator's not supposed to be helpful...

Different opinions exist on this topic. I even started a pol long time ago.

In some cases, predator penalties can be turned into advantage by an experienced player. The most frequently used example is increased AI unit support. It gives more money to AI and thus you could get a better deal when you are selling techs.
Extra settlers mean more cities, more money and so on.

Personaly, since I never achieved any award or medal (except for the highest scoring loss ), I play predator only in those cases when I see a potential advantage.

I take predator now. I think 2 tech isnt problem on little map and fast UU. If I find neighbours then predator is good way, if it is little island then 8(((

I think if a forest reveals a BG, a 5-7 turn settler factory is possible. My plan:

Go to monarchy ASAP starting with WC and CB. That time, my capital will be producing settlers, and all other cities will go warrior, worker, rax, jag, jag, jag.

Taking techs away is not a great difference but a very annoting one (for me). Still i'm going to play predator

If you're going to play Vanilla + open class, watch out. In the preferences, there is the "always wait the end of the turn" option turned off. Better turn it back on before doing anything.

Neat, last month's epic map was too epic for me. I quit it after I saw the world map. This is small, very good, I'll probably play this. If I have time and my mental capabilities allow that. ;]
