Vanilla, predator class, military takeover.
Ancient age, part 2
Thanks to the Lighthouse, the 2 galleys may safely move to sea tiles, and the advantage is quite evident. The first to be met are the Aztecs, in 730BC, followed shortly after by the Zulu. We trade techs and maps, gaining Ceremonial Burial, the Wheel, Masonry, Mysticism, Horseback Riding, their world maps and a fine amount of money. We absolutely don't sell contacts: our governments intend to commit as many dastardly acts as possible against those sorry excuses for civilizations
In the homeland we do nothing but reinforce for the upcoming war. Swordsmen and a few spears are trained. Then, in 550BC, Persia moves a bunch of weak units into our territory. We buy Mathematics for 12 gpt, then ask the pukes to leave or declare. Guess what? They declare. Those dumb AS will never learn :shakehead The intruders are quickly dispatched, and with the 2nd elite win we gain our 2nd leader! (it never happened me before. The odds are 1/256 and considering the amount of games i have played so far, the strange thing is that it didn't happened before). The leader is spent to rush the Pyramids.
A few turns after, the assimilation of Persia begins. One after another, the persian cities are captured. A failed attack occur at Pasagardae, with 4 veteran swords lost to 2 regular spears, but the turn after the city is captured anyway. With Persia reduced to OCC, we sign peace in return for Code of Laws. Then a pair of cities are left open and war is re-declared immediately. The last Persian city, Arbela, is full of units (7 spears or something - where did they come from?), but a few of them come out of the city to try to capture the empty cities. Once they cross the border, our force moves to Arbela. The city is taken over in 250BC. Bye bye to Persia, and welcome to the 3rd leader of the game, just in time to rush the Forbidden Palace in Persepolis.
Meanwhile, more civs are contacted. We meet in order: India, France, Egypt, Russia, Germany and Babylon. The last to be met are the English and the Vikings in 390BC. World maps are sold for maps and all the available money. The only tech gained with trade is Polytheism. In 310BC, we complete Literature and go for Monarchy at max rate.
The Korean Kingdom is established in 110BC, and we start researching Currency. A few galleys are being built, to pay a courtesy visit to our Egyptian and Babylonian neighbours. A city on the west island is founded in order to take control of dyes. We sign a RoP with Egypt, then start disembarking units on the Egyptian soil. Egypt and Babylon are already at war, and that is good. In 30BC we gift Egypt to Monarchy (so they cannot poprush troops) then war is declared. At this point, we ask for a RoP with Babylon: since they're at war with Egypt, they accept gladly. It will be Hammurabi's last mistake
Egypt is then raped. Thebes is captured and Heliopolis is destroyed the turn after. With the last elite attack we get the 5th leader of the game. A few turns after, Memphis is captured, Heliopolis is refounded with a settler from Thebes and the Great Library is immediately rushed in the new city. In 110AD the Library is complete and our golden age may start. In the very same turn, Currency is mastered and we go for the last AA tech, Construction, at very low rate.
We sign peace with Egypt for the tiny settlement of Alexandria, then we sail the seas for the last Egyptian target, Elephantine. The city is owned in 170BC, and the Egyptians become the 2nd victim of the Korean fury. A few turns after, the Babylonians are cured with the same medicine: we rape Babylon and Ur immediately (so to ensure a supply of wines, the 4th luxury), then the few remaining cities are quickly dispatched. In 270AD, Babylon is reduced to a single city that is about to be captured, but before eliminating them we sign peace, make our way into the Middle Age, then use the scientific trick to have Babylon gain a tech for us. We grab Monotheism and Feudalism, then redeclare immediately. Next turn, Babylon is vanquished.
Here's a shot of our belongings at the start of the Middle ages:
Middle ages
Gone Babylon, we prepare for an offensive on Russia and Germany. At the same time, troops are amassing in the east jungle island for an attack on Aztland and Zululand. We declare on Germany, then sign an alliance with Russia, then sign RoP with Russia. In 390AD, we gift Russia to Monarchy, then the rape begins: Moscow and St.Petersburg are captured immediately, then Minsk follow shortly after. At this point we make peace with Germany, then sign a RoP with them and use the german road network to reach the last Russian city. Russia is gone in 460AD.
On the other front, we sign a RoP with the Aztecs, then unload troops outside 2 of the 3 Aztecs cities. Once again, same trick: gift them to Monarchy, DoW, alliance with the Zulu, RoP with the Zulu. Aztland is raped and in 490AD the Aztecs are erased from the world. Germany follow soon: poisoned gift of Monarchy, rape in 480AD, complete assimilation in 560AD. The fifth leader of the game is generated. It is sent back to the mainland where it rushes Sun Tzu.
The Zulu are the next target. Same trick for them: gift to Monarchy, then merciless rape. This time we face a tough opponent: an impi army and a dozen or so of individual units, but catapults and mercs are enough to obliterate them with minimal losses. The last Zulu city, Hlobane is captured in 640AD.
Next turn, we gift both the Vikings and the English to Monarchy, then DoW on the Vikings, sign an alliance with the English and then a RoP. Troops are unloaded into Viking territory in 680AD and the poor norsemen are completely assimilated in 720AD. Meanwhile, we have researched Chivalry, and from now research is stopped completely. Since we're still in RoP with England, we place our troops for a devastating rape and in 740AD we take over the whole English nation in a single turn.
In 760AD, it's time for India to bite the dust. Gandhi is gifted to Monarchy, then war is declared and troops are disembarked. In 770AD, the 2 indian cities are owned and India is no more. In the very same turn, we sign a RoP with the last survivor, France. But this time we are given a taste of our own medicine: France RoP-rape us immediately, and one of the 2 indian cities is lost.
In 780AD, we recapture the lost indian city, at a hefty price: France owns the Great Walls, and the RNG gods suddenly turn against us: 5 elite mercs are lost in sequence against a damned regular spear, that goes elite and also spawns a defensive leader (slaughtered immediately). But the damage is irrelevant: with a fair number of knights available, we quickly bring doom on French territory. Paris resists a first attack in 800AD, then is destroyed the turn after, and bye bye to those pesky city walls. The remaining French cities fall quickly and in 840AD the last enemy is obliterated.
Conquest is achieved in 850AD, for a Firaxis score of 4611 and a Jason score of 10080. The score is nothing exceptional, and i could have paid some more attention to optimizing happiness and territory: i ended up more than 100 tiles under the domination limit.
Here's the final minimap:
I think i have played this game quite well, with the exception of a lone, costly mistake: i left India and France for last, while i should have assimilated them much earlier. The French landmass would have been perfect for a capital jump, and conquest could have been achieved at least 20 turns earlier.
