GOTM 48: Spoiler 2.

TO qualify for this spoiler, you must have reached the start of the industrial age, have the full world-map, and contact with all civs that are still alive. If your game finished before the end of the middle ages, then you can post here as well.

Did you manage to beat Persia and claimthe home continent? If so, then it should have been a lot easier after that! What was happening in the rest of the world? Did anyone give you any serious competition?

How

I managed to quite easily take out Persia before they could contact anyone else.

I can't imagine that those who didn't take out Persia before AD would be in for an easy time.

Oh, and I think the GOTM-AI is going to have a mental breakdown with that start!

After a great start, taking out Persia and settling my whole island early, I made a fatal mistake in not building the Great Lighthouse. By the time I started building it, it was too late as England beat me to it. I don't have my notes here at work, but I zipped through the ancient age as fast as I could, getting Engineering as my free tech. Suicide galleys had gotten me contact with all the other civs, so I had 3 scientific civs left to trade with. I did Germany and Russia first since they were on the same island, but both got Monotheism free. So I had to do Babylon also, and they got Feudalism. I traded Republic for Mono and Feuadlism and then headed for Astronomy as fast as I could go. During this time I mounted a painfully slow attack on the Aztecs with horses. I only landed 8 horses initially, followed by 4 more a couple turns later, all of which were slaughtered. I massed more horses for the second attack and slowly made my way through Aztec territory. Meanwhile, I got Astronomy and could get some more luxes (Zulu and either Babylon or Egypt). Then I researched Chivalry and turned off research until I had enough gold to upgrade all my horses, and then went for Navigation after which I turned off research for good. The initial few knights took out the Zulu. The remaining knights on that island plus extras coming over formed up to head to Germany. Meanwhile I was also massing more knights to head to Egypt. I worked on Germany and Egypt together, followed by Russia and Babylon (some overlap in these wars). Only Germany was still on it's own island, so hunting down Russia, Babylon, and especially Egypt took a while. England was attacked near the end of these wars, gaining me their cities on the dyes island and the cow iron island NE of that. They had Coventry on the 1 tile island near Russia. It wasn't until after I took out the vikings and a coupl emore English home island cities that I was able to make peace with England for Coventry and then finish them off. All the while I had been settling open islands and building libraries, trying to get to domination. All that was left was France and I was still under 60% of land. So everyone headed to France, who was still in the ancient age (we're in the early 600s AD now). I renewed a fur deal with France for Philosophy and gpt bringing them into the Middle Ages, planning to use the ROP I had with them to get close to Paris (with the Great Wall) and then gift them Republic so they would go into anarchy just before I attacked them. Unfortunately they didn't like the troops I landed on their island and they promptly declared war on me. So I had to slowly work my way accross the island. I missed domination in 700AD by 3 tiles, finally winning in 710AD with 56 tiles over the limit. Looking at some of the people that finished already in the first spoiler, it looks like I waited to long to start attacking in the ancient age, and probably should have used swords instead of horses initially, but the Lighthouse really killed me. Still, I got a 10000+ Jason, which means I expect some of the wins to be WAY up there.

This is my first submission in quite a few months, and with CivIV on preorder (hopefully getting it today :mischief: ), probably my last for a good while.

Open, poor attemt at domination.

I entered the MA in 320AD.
I didn't take any Persian cities in the AA. We had one small war wich got him a golden age. I had started to settle three medium sized islands (one to the east, one NE and one S of our starting continent) and would also settle two smaller islands before i stopped expanding peacefully.

Upon entering the MA me and persia were tech leaders, and only russia and france were close to keeping up (I was the only one with any overseas contacts i think, having build the Great Lighthouse). I soon started building horsemen, swordmen and catapults (never used them much before, but thought i'd try it out because of the UU) to prepare for conquering the world.

In 390AD i got republic in a trade from persia and revolted.

My first victim would be the Aztec, they were weakend by war with Shaka, and i wanted their luxuries, they were also a good starting spot for my invasion of a lot of other islands.

Around 700AD my first forces reached Aztec lands, but they only had one city left at this point (not the one with incense). I took this city just in front of Shakas nose.

850AD Russians declares war, refusing to leave my territory. I abandon the (only) city on the island they have invaded. And get hundreds of years with war happiness for it.
880AD I have moved all my forces over to the zulu island and declare war on Shaka.
1110AD destroy zulu, prepare for invasion of russia

Russia have taken over the island they shared with Germany, Otto has one town left on a one-tile island. Russia has also settled the island to the W of their starting island.
1200AD land first troops on russian soil (catapults, knights, pikes and mid inf) resarching gunpowder, beelining for metallurgy
1260AD finish Copernicus in Seoul, start golden age
1265AD dicover gunpowder
1295AD dissappearing units. for the second time in this game a russian unit has disappeared, it came of a galley and landed one tile away from undefended Namp'o, when it was my turn it was gone
1320AD discover metallurgy, trade it to persia for navigation and gold
1350AD discover military tradition
1440AD destroy russians, 475 tiles from dom limit
In the war with russia i also get my first great leader who will rush a forbidden palace in former zulu capital.

1450AD declare on babylon who have settled the island between their starting island and the russians. As the russians the babs defend their cities with pikes.

1520AD trade magnetism from persia, enter IA

At this point my supply lines are streched. I'm building most of my units in the 5 cities on my starting island and in 3 of the cities on the island west of it. The units are then shipped over to zulu continent, and from there to russian continen. From russia to island between russia and babylon, and from this small island over to babylon/egypt island. I have also neglected building enough military units (putting too much trust in cavalry v pike), and instead built cathedrals, banks and universities. I never learn.

Middle ages were quite a peaceful time, relatively speaking. After having failed to kill off Persia before they made contacts, and them having escaped to a nearby island, I had my home continent to myself, but had some catching up to do. Immediately settled into the phase I like best, peaceful building. Maybe should have pressed the attack, taken their last city, and took the fight to the French, but I generally hate prolonged warfare....anyhow, the whole war theme had played out worldwide in the AA. The Vikings and Germans (who I never met) were destroyed at or near the start of the middle ages, and the French smoked the Indians in 660 AD, leaving them, like me, in sole possesion of their starting island, setting us up as the tech leaders for the entire age. The only 'competition', once I had my land/infrastructure built up, was who could research the fastest. By the end of the age, I had slightly pulled ahead of France for the tech lead, had built Smiths, and was in position to build Newton's for the GA...

PTW Open

I second xxaaaxx's spoiler. My MA was filled with peaceful expansion and glorious building, building, building.

Having traded Republic for all first level free techs from the Science Civs, I ran up the top half of the tree hoping they would do the bottom. They manage Invention.:(

My palace jump was ready in 320AD and my new core already had six R4 cities and three R6. The forbidden palace would have five R4 and three R6 after some Persian acquisitions were moved in from R5.

I did start two fake wars against the Vikings and India. I wanted England and France to eliminate their neighbors to help speedup techs. France succeeded but England actually lost two towns before regaining one and razing the other. This despite the fact that the vikings were way behind in tech and didn't have Invention.

I ended up settling for peace with them after 20 turns and was surprized that they offered two of their three towns! I plan to use these as a base to eliminate them myself but for now, I don't have any military units to make that happen.

I do plan to eliminate some of the weaker AI's to speed up research and improve my score. The Zulu's are first on the list because of all their cows. Aztecs will follow with an abuse of ROP. The AI are so far back that they don't have the technology to reach the Aztecs, so I'm not worried about my rep and still plan to go the diplomatic route, although I am considering a spaceship run.

I hit the Industrial Age in EDIT: 940AD (science civs gifted to industrial in 1030AD) and got Steam Power. I was lucky again that the Science Civs got Medicine and Nationalism as freebies.

Time for the 4-turn-tech cruise home....

At the end of the game i'd killed these civs (chronological order)
Persia, Babylon, Egypt, England, Russia, Germany, Aztecs, and finally Zulu. I had some brief wars with France, but didn't wipe them out. At 2048 I attacked Scandinavia but only took 2 cities. I palace jumped to Cheju, which was my super production center because of Iron Works. (it had 108 shields when the palace moved)

My final firaxis was 2277. Redbad AND Al-thor probably both beat me.

By the way did anybody notice that Zulu started out next to 5 cows!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luckily they couldn't use them in my game because they're island was small and Aztecs was there to.
Also France had almost every resource!!

AA Stats

27 towns
67 citizens
3 settler
9 workers
8 slaves
5 warrior
2 archers
11 swordsmen
9 galleys

In 10 AD the French city of Orleans culture expands. This cramps the boarder of Bombay so troops are moved into position. The next turn in 30 AD the war with France is on. 50 AD the French city of Orleans is taken.

Zulu try to Demand contacts in 70 AD. We say no and they declare war. What are they thinking?

Then in 90 AD with a lot of my offence Orleans flips back. Crap I only had it 1 turn. I learn that from now on I will put 0 troops in those captured cities. 90 AD Orleans and Marseilles both are destroyed, I don’t even try to hold them. I had heavy losses plus the losses in the Orleans flip. We get our first leader in 210 AD and Paris fall. I will try to hold it and this time I will be ready for the flip.

We learn Chivalry in 230 AD. The next goal will be Military Tradition. We also notice an Indian spearman pillaging land around Lyons. France is building in The Great Library in Lyons and I want them to finish it so war on India.

In 270 BC we found New Pusan right in the middle of France/India island. We use our leader for the Forbidden Palace. The next turn the Forbidden Palace is in place. Also Tours fall and Madras fall India is gone. 280 Paris flips and is retaken. 290 Tours falls and is retaken. 320 Peace with France. They are still building The Great Library in their only city.

By 330 AD my navy is almost to the Aztec/Zulu island. The slow swordsmen and medievals were left on the French island. I plan on using knights on the Zulu and Aztecs. In 370 I land a lot of knight next to Aztecs cities (2 of their 3). The next turn they ask us to leave we say no, so it’s war. We take the Aztec city of Texcoco. I have yet to see any Zulu troops. But in 390 we make peace with the Zulu any way. That same turn the Zulu take the Aztec capital. That leaves the Aztecs with 1 city. The Zulu kill off the Aztecs in 440 AD.

In 450 AD France builds The Great Library. Troops move in. Lyons falls in 460 AD. France is gone. All I need now is a 2nd leader to rush any wonder and I should trigger my golden age.

In 510 Zulu again demand and declare war. We fail to take the old Aztecs capital they have a lot of troops in it. The next turn they send a lot more troops into our only city on the island. It is looking like I may have to give up this city. In 520 we do take the old Aztecs capital but I don’t know if I can keep it. It is abandon and I fall back to our only city. The next turn they 20+ unit close. In 550 they have 17 unit next to our only city on the island, I have 10 units in the city all offence. I kill about 5 and they make peace. They should have keep fighting it would have been a huge delay for me. Now I’m 4 turns from Military Tradition and I still have a foot hold on the island. There is a barracks and I will rush a harbor in this foot hold.

590 we learn Military Tradition and start the upgrades. I should have just turn my science off here but I wanted bigger boats. In 600 the war with the Zulus is back on. I destroy a town they built near the ruins of Aztecs capital. I also start picking off unit they have in field. The Zulu keep trying to send settler in the open area on the island so free slaves. 640 produce the leader we want for the golden age. It came from an elite knight. In 650 he made it back to our home island where he rushed the Sun Tzu’s Art of War. So the GA kicked off in 660 with barracks in every city on the home island.

In 710 I learn Astronomy, I made the mistake of not turning off my science then. At the time I was doing a 4 turn research and 150gp per turn. If I would have turned it off I would have gotten 500+gp per turn. I also kill off the last of the Zulu this turn.

Egypt has put a town on an island of mine in the only open space left so in 730 I destroy it. In 750 they land a settler and war chariot in the same place, I take it for 2 more slaves. The same turn 12 units mostly cavalry land next to Thebes. The following turn Thebes is a Korean city. And in 770 Egypt has been kicked off their starting island. They still have 3 size one towns on two little islands.

In 780 war on Babylon.

790 one Egypt town taken and one in a peace deal. Now Egypt is down to their last size 1 town.

In 800 Babylon is kicked off their start island. They have 4 size 1 off shore islands. I also destroy the last Egypt town but they are still alive. I know of thee boats they have. Two of the boats have not moved in many turns and I know they are empty. The third boat is heading to the their last place they had a town.

In 820 Russia asks us to leave. I only have loaded boats in their land so I say no it’s war. Egypt had made peace and I’m following their settler boat. I land a lot of troops on the iron mountain by Moscow.

In 840 Egypt lands their settler by two cavalry on a tiny island. Well now Egypt is dead. Russia is also destroy the same turn.

In 850 we land on Scandinavia land.

I attack Germany the same turn. In 860 AD my 70+ cavalry and 35+ caravels take Germany.

At this point I see the mistake I’m about to do. I am 1 turn from magnetism and intering the IA. I remember if I get that tech the lighthouse will stop working. I STOP MY SCIENCE. I should have done that after Astronomy.

870 Scandinavia is gone. I land cavalry all over England.

In 880 England is gone and in 890 I have a conquest victory.

Firaxis score: 4608
Jason score: 10115

Ainwood: How far into the future can be discussed in this spoiler?

I didn't meet France until 1415 AD, the year I discovered Mass Production.

I wont win this (even thoough it's Regent  ). I was hoping that Persia wouldnt attack too early. Unfortunately, they attacked shortley after Iron Working. I fought them off for long enough to get complete control of the small island to the east, but not well enough to get towns anywhere else. My entire empire in the middle of the Middle ages was 5 cities.
Nuts_to_that..jpg

If the AI was any good at transcontinental wars, i'd be crapping my self. Other major things that have been happening are the Aztecs are dead, the Viking have a forced OCC, the Indians have a forced 2CC (without French attacking), the Egyptian have 3 cities left, and only one is still with babylon, and i hate "easy" games. Why do get these sick twisted Warlord and Regent games where we have terrible starts. AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!:aargh:

Yeah, this was a highly "engineered" map. Did you notice the mythical BG Cow outside of Persepolis? Persia had it mined by the time I got there so I didn't realize it in despotism until I changed the mine to irrigation. That's when I noticed it was still giving 2 sheilds!

CF_GOTM48_BG_Cow.JPG

I also think it wasn't a coincidence that the two civs with early UU were on the same island, two commercial civs were on the same island and all the science civs were in the same cluster. It's been a lot of fun trying to manage the groups to get the most from their traits and starting land area.

I wanted to keep Germany and Russian fairly equal so they couldn't eliminate each other. I wanted Babylon to stay viable against Egypt, all so I can get their free techs at each age.

I wanted France to eliminate India which they have done. With fewer civs, the cost of a tech goes down. Plus France can concentrate on becoming the commercial civ they should be and start giving me gold instead of getting my gifts for free.

I wanted England to eliminate Scandinavia which they have not done. That's a little scary right now because my islands are relatively undefended and the berserker's marine assault could cause me problems. They still don't have invention yet but I need to finish off their two cities soon before they get it.

I knew that the Zulu's and Aztec's GA were spent in despotism as I saw units fighting early on. So I just hid them from the rest of the world and ROP rape them both out of existance. They are no help to the research rate and were eliminated to reduce the costs of tech as well.

BTW, I have a correction to my previous spoiler. I actually entered the Industrial Age in 940AD. I didn't gift the other civs to the Industrial Age until 1030AD because I didn't want them to find the Aztecs before they were eliminated. I was so far ahead of them that "gifting" the science civs to the industrial age actually included giving most of them astronomy.

1.29 [civ3mac] Open

Still in the Ancient Age (immediately after learning map making) I started sending out galleys and met Aztecs, Zulus, Egyptians, English, Babylonians, Vikings, Germans, Russians, Indian and French. Only a single suicide galley was lost in these times. Luck.

Middle Ages begin 10BC with free monotheism.

The AIs were all very backward and I did trade neither contacts nor techs with them, only maps. And that alone gave a lot of money.

After researching up to military tradition in gotm47, I decided to stop at chivalry only this game, since the distances on the islands were limited. I usually had a scientist on engineering in resisting/conquered cities and 40+ turns later I got engineering.

Warring started with the treacherous Babylonians dropping spear and warrior next to our western dyes colony in 50AD, shortly after signing a lux deal with us. And bad comes to worse: their warrior red-lines the fortified defending spear, their spear goes for the killing and they capture our city. This gave us reverse war weariness and of course a few turns later we retook the city. At least the harbor survived both owner changes.

Meanwhile our ships were sailing east towards the Aztecs. Our troops land 90AD, but the Aztecs give us a hard time with walled cities and lots of units. Only 370AD they are gone and re-enforeced troops move towards the Zulus, who finish The Great Wall  in time to give us also a good fight. But now we have knights and the mainland is conquered 510AD, the last island colonies a few turns later.

By now we are strong enough for 2 concurrent wars: 560 declare on Germany, 570 on Egypt, soon after we go for Babylon. Babylon is gone 730AD, Egypt 750AD. Now our troops move against India (3 cities - peace of cake) and Russia. In 870AD we rop rape the French and finish them in 2 turns; on to Scandinavia. In 850 we sign a rop with the Vikings (they killed the English long ago) preparing for the rape, but they are faster and attack next turn. It doesn't help them much - they are gone 930AD and the conquest is announced 940AD.

The various AI groups never came into contact with each other and neither did they enter the Middle Ages. Still my progress was slow - too slow.

The big error I probably made was to not instigate wars among the AIs. Thus Aztecs, Zulus, Babylon, Egypt hit their Golden Ages with plenty of production when fighting me.

1255AD conquer the world.
nothing special occured. after missing the great light house by a long shot, i just asked all the AI pairs to fight each other before my overwhelming force got there after navagation is researched.. it turned out my preparation for all the war was always overdone and i always had too many units for those cities guarded by 2 spearman or pikemen. triggered the golden age at 1010AD by building the observatory and spent all the 20 turns unting the world. the task was finished shortly after the golden age finished. this's the first time for me to try a conquest win and there're definitely too many things to improve upon.

During one of my expansions, I declared war on Aztecs and I landed like 6 or 8 Muskets and a bunch of Knights on a hill by the city with the Incense. After taking the city, I started moving my army towards the 2 or 3 remaining Aztec cities. It was during this move that Zulu declared war on me. What stunned me was the absolutley HUGE numbers of Impi's that came swarming over my newly-conquered land. It looked like someone had kicked an angry black-and-yellow bee hive!
I had to retreat all of my forces into my lone city. Even fortified in the city, which was on a hill, my Muskets were dwindling. But I guess timing is everything, as I entered the IA and got Nationalism as the free tech and IMMEDIATELY upgraded the 2 remaining Musket to Rifle and reinforcements arrived. Whew!

Did anyone else experience this "swarm of Zulu"? It was kinda fun while it lasted (i.e. Cavalry and Rifle).

Just submitted. Conquest victory in 850AD. Detailed spoiler will follow soon, if i don't fall asleep, or in the following days.

Yes, in 520 AD 20+ swarmed me. I was almost pushed off the island.

@Randy:
Yeah, I think there were AT LEAST 20+ in my game also (I roughly counted somewhere around 30 to 40). The Zulu only had like 5 cities total, so I couldn't get over the number of units he was throwing at me. He even had 5 or 6 Longbows, a few Horse, and a few Archer. I know that he was at war with the French, but he had no way to reach her, so he must have just pumped out the units, waiting for a ferry to show up.
He pilliaged all of my roads and killed like 5 or 6 Muskets and even a Knight or 2 before I could swarm him with my own Cavalry. Even the losses of my attacking Cavs were impressively high against the "lowly" Impi. I remember getting at least one leader out of that, possibly two.

Vanilla, predator class, military takeover.

Ancient age, part 2

Thanks to the Lighthouse, the 2 galleys may safely move to sea tiles, and the advantage is quite evident. The first to be met are the Aztecs, in 730BC, followed shortly after by the Zulu. We trade techs and maps, gaining Ceremonial Burial, the Wheel, Masonry, Mysticism, Horseback Riding, their world maps and a fine amount of money. We absolutely don't sell contacts: our governments intend to commit as many dastardly acts as possible against those sorry excuses for civilizations

In the homeland we do nothing but reinforce for the upcoming war. Swordsmen and a few spears are trained. Then, in 550BC, Persia moves a bunch of weak units into our territory. We buy Mathematics for 12 gpt, then ask the pukes to leave or declare. Guess what? They declare. Those dumb AS will never learn :shakehead The intruders are quickly dispatched, and with the 2nd elite win we gain our 2nd leader! (it never happened me before. The odds are 1/256 and considering the amount of games i have played so far, the strange thing is that it didn't happened before). The leader is spent to rush the Pyramids.

A few turns after, the assimilation of Persia begins. One after another, the persian cities are captured. A failed attack occur at Pasagardae, with 4 veteran swords lost to 2 regular spears, but the turn after the city is captured anyway. With Persia reduced to OCC, we sign peace in return for Code of Laws. Then a pair of cities are left open and war is re-declared immediately. The last Persian city, Arbela, is full of units (7 spears or something - where did they come from?), but a few of them come out of the city to try to capture the empty cities. Once they cross the border, our force moves to Arbela. The city is taken over in 250BC. Bye bye to Persia, and welcome to the 3rd leader of the game, just in time to rush the Forbidden Palace in Persepolis.

Meanwhile, more civs are contacted. We meet in order: India, France, Egypt, Russia, Germany and Babylon. The last to be met are the English and the Vikings in 390BC. World maps are sold for maps and all the available money. The only tech gained with trade is Polytheism. In 310BC, we complete Literature and go for Monarchy at max rate.

The Korean Kingdom is established in 110BC, and we start researching Currency. A few galleys are being built, to pay a courtesy visit to our Egyptian and Babylonian neighbours. A city on the west island is founded in order to take control of dyes. We sign a RoP with Egypt, then start disembarking units on the Egyptian soil. Egypt and Babylon are already at war, and that is good. In 30BC we gift Egypt to Monarchy (so they cannot poprush troops) then war is declared. At this point, we ask for a RoP with Babylon: since they're at war with Egypt, they accept gladly. It will be Hammurabi's last mistake

Egypt is then raped. Thebes is captured and Heliopolis is destroyed the turn after. With the last elite attack we get the 5th leader of the game. A few turns after, Memphis is captured, Heliopolis is refounded with a settler from Thebes and the Great Library is immediately rushed in the new city. In 110AD the Library is complete and our golden age may start. In the very same turn, Currency is mastered and we go for the last AA tech, Construction, at very low rate.

We sign peace with Egypt for the tiny settlement of Alexandria, then we sail the seas for the last Egyptian target, Elephantine. The city is owned in 170BC, and the Egyptians become the 2nd victim of the Korean fury. A few turns after, the Babylonians are cured with the same medicine: we rape Babylon and Ur immediately (so to ensure a supply of wines, the 4th luxury), then the few remaining cities are quickly dispatched. In 270AD, Babylon is reduced to a single city that is about to be captured, but before eliminating them we sign peace, make our way into the Middle Age, then use the scientific trick to have Babylon gain a tech for us. We grab Monotheism and Feudalism, then redeclare immediately. Next turn, Babylon is vanquished.

Here's a shot of our belongings at the start of the Middle ages:

GotM48-shot2.gif

Middle ages

Gone Babylon, we prepare for an offensive on Russia and Germany. At the same time, troops are amassing in the east jungle island for an attack on Aztland and Zululand. We declare on Germany, then sign an alliance with Russia, then sign RoP with Russia. In 390AD, we gift Russia to Monarchy, then the rape begins: Moscow and St.Petersburg are captured immediately, then Minsk follow shortly after. At this point we make peace with Germany, then sign a RoP with them and use the german road network to reach the last Russian city. Russia is gone in 460AD.

On the other front, we sign a RoP with the Aztecs, then unload troops outside 2 of the 3 Aztecs cities. Once again, same trick: gift them to Monarchy, DoW, alliance with the Zulu, RoP with the Zulu. Aztland is raped and in 490AD the Aztecs are erased from the world. Germany follow soon: poisoned gift of Monarchy, rape in 480AD, complete assimilation in 560AD. The fifth leader of the game is generated. It is sent back to the mainland where it rushes Sun Tzu.

The Zulu are the next target. Same trick for them: gift to Monarchy, then merciless rape. This time we face a tough opponent: an impi army and a dozen or so of individual units, but catapults and mercs are enough to obliterate them with minimal losses. The last Zulu city, Hlobane is captured in 640AD.

Next turn, we gift both the Vikings and the English to Monarchy, then DoW on the Vikings, sign an alliance with the English and then a RoP. Troops are unloaded into Viking territory in 680AD and the poor norsemen are completely assimilated in 720AD. Meanwhile, we have researched Chivalry, and from now research is stopped completely. Since we're still in RoP with England, we place our troops for a devastating rape and in 740AD we take over the whole English nation in a single turn.

In 760AD, it's time for India to bite the dust. Gandhi is gifted to Monarchy, then war is declared and troops are disembarked. In 770AD, the 2 indian cities are owned and India is no more. In the very same turn, we sign a RoP with the last survivor, France. But this time we are given a taste of our own medicine: France RoP-rape us immediately, and one of the 2 indian cities is lost.

In 780AD, we recapture the lost indian city, at a hefty price: France owns the Great Walls, and the RNG gods suddenly turn against us: 5 elite mercs are lost in sequence against a damned regular spear, that goes elite and also spawns a defensive leader (slaughtered immediately). But the damage is irrelevant: with a fair number of knights available, we quickly bring doom on French territory. Paris resists a first attack in 800AD, then is destroyed the turn after, and bye bye to those pesky city walls. The remaining French cities fall quickly and in 840AD the last enemy is obliterated.

Conquest is achieved in 850AD, for a Firaxis score of 4611 and a Jason score of 10080. The score is nothing exceptional, and i could have paid some more attention to optimizing happiness and territory: i ended up more than 100 tiles under the domination limit.

Here's the final minimap:

I think i have played this game quite well, with the exception of a lone, costly mistake: i left India and France for last, while i should have assimilated them much earlier. The French landmass would have been perfect for a capital jump, and conquest could have been achieved at least 20 turns earlier.

tR1cKy
Conquest in 850AD
Firaxis score of 4611
Jason score of 10080

Randy
Conquest in 890AD
Firaxis score of 4608
Jason score of 10115

I had a conquest 4 turns behind, 3 Firaxis points behind but I got 35 more Jason points.

Not that I'm complaining but how can this be? Shouldn't tR1cKy have a higher Jason score then me?

Edit: I was also 140 tiles under domination.

From 1000BC on was a time of peaceful exploration.
Build Great Lighthouse in the hope that's all it takes on this map for transport (true :D ).
10BC contact finally India and France.
Only in 10AD the war with Persia resumed.
50AD we entered middle ages got mono and traded for feudalism and engineering.
170AD chivalry is researched and the island hopping begins.
The rest is just producing knights and shipping them around.
