Which save did you take?
Where did you settle?
Any problems so far?

This is was only my second game every on emperor difficulty so of course I took the Adventurer save. I took the advice from the announcement thread. I settled in the New World, and used my scout and settler to meet people in the old world. Right about the time my settler was killed i decided that the old world had a lot more cool stuff in it. I settled 5 cities throughout the southern landmass of the new world. Neil putting warriors on top of so many of the goody huts really ruined the fun i was having popping so many of them with my scout.

I didn't put warriors on the Goody huts, but when a wandering barb finds a Goody hut, they usually protect it.

Out of curiosity, did anyone manage (luck out) to pop the Goody hut? I was one turn away when I saw Cathy's scout nab it, but if one happens to start out in exactly the right direction, it might be possible to get there first. If you did, what did you get. Hopefully no-one poped a big tech.

Settled on PH. Expanded to 5 cities.
I didn't bother to go Oracle path, instead researched Alpha and traded for many early techs.
Twice I stole Worker from Cathy, second time even captured city, which she settled on the spot I wanted. Then I converted to Buddism to befriend her and George.
I tried only GLight from wonders, but Qin was faster.
Thanks to Alpha till 1 AD I got Currency, Construction, Monarchy, CoL. From now on I'm going to war path: MC, Machinery and so on.
From hut I got the same as Srad.

I think I had 7 or 8 cities with total pop around 45 in 1AD. Wandered too much in the beginning which later cost me phants as Cathy settled there fast. Didn't bother with Oracle, just beelined Construction after important early techs. Had an army of some 20 cats + 10 axes (and 1-2 spears against possible HAs) ready to claim the lost phants from Cathy.

Settled on the plains hill and researched Agriculture while building worker. Decided to go for expansion rather than wonders and got to 7 cities before the available land filled up (Researched BW after Agriculture). Only wonder I built was the Great Lighthouse since all my cities except Berlin were coastal (2 on the north coast, 3 on the south coast and 1 on the west coast). Realized too late that happy cap was going to be a problem and by then it was too late to build the Mids. They were built in China 500 BC. What to do …. :mischief: Researched Construction and declared war on Qin shortly before 1AD. It's a Cat+WE vs Archer war. At 1AD I had 8 cities (One captured from Qin). The plan was to bulb my way to Astronomy (Just started researching Machinery) and then settle the new world and use the veterans from the Chinese War to capture any barb cities. Ultimately the goal is a space victory.

No worries
I wasn't offended..... and welcome to GOTM.

I played according to a pre-arranged strategy (early mids/caste) rather than playing the map.

As a result Catherine decalared on me around 900 BC. My army consisted of, I think, 5 warriors, and I had no metal, so I gave up. My own stupid fault... though the Chinese beat me to the copper site by 1 turn earlier in the game, which was super-annoying. (I was about 5 turns away from getting the copper anyway via culture)

I got 40-ish gold from the hut too.

Incidentally in aanother Freddy/Terra game I popped a hut in the new world around 1800AD. It said "the villiagers are hostile!" so i was expecting riflemen or something... but nope, 1 warrior appeared who promptly attacked my cavalry

Settled on the PH.

Research: Agri>BW>AH>Wheel>HBR>Archery and that's it. ;)

Build: Worker>Warrior>Warrior

Got 35 gold from the hut. :)

Settled Hamburg south of the ivory 2560BC and Munich north of the cow 1920BC

Glad to see copper in BFC :D

With no horses it had to be an axe-rush and Cathy had the horses I needed. :D
But she expanded fast and blocked the direct access to Moscow, so DOW was delayed until 1160BC when half of my axes attacked from the east and half from the west taking Novgorod and St. Petersburg before Moscow.
750BC Cathy was history and I had HAs online 625BC and 5 former Russian cities to pay maintenance for..

So I just had to keep the army rolling and ended with 50BC conquest. :D

Never built anything but barracks and units (33 axe and 48 HA). :mischief:

^Outstanding game, zamint3! Luckily for me, I got my fastest (and slowest ;)) conquest last month, so this month I went for domination instead. Also decided to try a no-cottage game this time. Ended up with some, but I can blame it on the mapmaker and his all-financial leaders line-up. :p

Settled on the PH and went Agr/AH/Wheel (connect resources)/Writ/Alpha. Got there 1520BC. REX'ed hard and had 6 cities before 1040BC. After some tech trading I was pondering which AI to bully 1st but Qin spared me the trouble, declaring on me 850BC. Fortunately, our mapmaker was nice and denied him of metals, so a few spears were enough to kill his chariots. By 1AD my swordsmen had captured his 3 best cities including the capital and I gave him peace for currency/MC/mono. I had also Lit/CoL/Monarchy/Construction by then, so elepults for next wars...

He was left with 3 cities but I had to focus on Washington's capital which was loaded with WW including Mids and Parthenon...more to follow in the final spoiler...

A nice fun game with lots of learning opportunities for me, as usual. I took the standard save.

I settled S SW on the PH. Started building a worker and researching Agri. Missed the goody hut by 1 turn.

Researched Agre - BW - AH (no horses) - writing - alphabet (1080 ad).

Settled 1st city in 2520 to NE between the cow and wheat, 2nd city in 2160 to N just below the stone. 3rd city in 2000 to SE between sheep and fur.

China DOW in 1000 BC. I was planning to attack them but not quite ready. They have horses and pillaged a good amount of my improvements. Took me until 500 BC to get on the offensive and I took Shanghai in 375 BC. Took and torched another city in 1 AD and gave peace for 10 turns to get some tech and regroup.

I felt like I should have been further along by 1 AD and bet many people have taken a good number of cities by then. In 1 AD I had 5 cities (my 4 plus Shanghai) and a population of 17.

I settled on the PH, which was a great move since it brought in Wheat and Copper.

Researched Ag -> BW -> Wheel -> Pottery -> AH -> Writing -> Alpha

I settled my 2nd city along the river by the Sheep and Ivory while I built up some Axes for China.

DOW on China and took 3 cities from them, giving me 5. I declared peace for 3 techs, including IW. My economy is really bad, but I'm hoping Currency and CoL will help. I'll finish off China in a bit when I get Construction for Catapults and Phants.

Nice work Z.

I am playing the most unusual game for me. First I chose not to settle the PH, which is my default preferance. I followed this by not teching toward Alpha and delaying the Oracle untill CS is available and missing it by 1 or 2 turns.

Forgot curency and Lit. Good thing CoL was on the way to CS, otherwise no CH's........oh wait, I have not built any yet. Only thing I did as usual is having just 2 workers for my 6 cities, academy in the capital and 2 more GS's waiting to bulb some thing or the other.

Claimed copper with second city along with fish and wheat. Claimed ivory with 3rd city but the population is starving and competing with Cathy for cultural domination. 4th city claimed Stone and fish before the chinese and have yet to build a road to it. The two workers are just not very good at keeping up with tasks. :crazyeye: City 5 claimed 2 fish and wheat to north and city 6 was settled on top of (I think) fur to claim fish, sheep and another fur.

I think I messed up my bulbing toward Astro by learning CS just before 0AD. I am thinking to liberate Astro at the moment. I can not say what VC I am going for but I am sure to win the game with elephants, cats and swords. Nilla cats have no respect for LB's. Very rude. Domination sound good to me. I need to count tiles to see if the old world will give a domi.
